Global and Cultural Communication
Communication styles and methods vary greatly across cultures and around the globe. Listen closely and you'll get important social insights. In our versatile global and cultural communication major, you’ll study intercultural communication, media, rhetoric, and more.

You'll start by taking two foundation courses that focus on effective speaking, concise writing, and critical thinking. Then you’ll enter the experiential phase, where you’ll gain specific knowledge and hands-on experience in global and cultural communication.

Studying communication around the world and among various cultures will help you communicate with diverse audiences. In this major, you'll analyze cultural values, norms, and behaviors. You'll critique global media and the messages they send, analyzing global Hollywood, the images of Muslim women in transnational media, the information society, and global social movement, among other topics. And you'll study how rhetoric helps shape personal and cultural identities worldwide. You'll also explore emerging trends in global, ethical, legal, political communication, and social justice issues in the context of cultural theory.

Journalism

Concentration in Creative Writing
The creative writing concentration will develop your creative thinking and imaginative writing skills in three genres: poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction. Suffolk’s MMOL curriculum is purpose-built to teach you how to think like a leader and ground you in organizational behavior, negotiation, interpersonal skills, leadership, team-building, conflict resolution, successful management of people and projects, and to get first-hand exposure to global business practices with a required travel seminar. The MMOL program prepares you to excel in a variety of leadership roles such as human resource specialist, operations manager, contract administrator, training and development manager, project coordinator, and more.

As an interior design student at Suffolk University, you'll gain the knowledge and skills to influence the way people live, work, play, grow, move, and bond. Innovation and creative problem solving, protection of natural resources, attention to building codes and laws, and understanding human behavior will all play a role in your work.

As a Bachelor of Fine Arts candidate in interior design, you'll develop a comprehensive knowledge of design theory, history, and communication and design skills. Your studies will explore sustainable and socially conscious design, lighting, and furniture design, as well as code adherence and professional practices. You’ll also develop fluency in the two- and three-dimensional design software and computer hardware contemporary designers use.
