Media and film are dynamic concepts that are constantly evolving; therefore, students need to prepare themselves to be adaptable creators in the industries. To that end, the major guides students through considerations of both practical and critical nature to ensure that students learn how the two areas exist with mutual benefit to one another. Upon graduation, students are prepared for both practical work in the industry and graduate studies in film or media theory or a specialized production area.

Radiation Science
The radiation science major emphasizes laboratory and research training rather than clinical training, making it ideal preparation for medical research careers and graduate study. By integrating the study of biology, radiation, physics, chemistry, and mathematics, our well-rounded program prepares you for a career in healthcare or any of the sciences. Majors in the program have the opportunity to complete an internship at a regional healthcare facility, including the possibility of interning at a top medical center, even though clinical training isn't a requirement of this program.

Communication styles and methods vary greatly across cultures and around the globe. Listen closely and you'll get important social insights. In our versatile global and cultural communication major, you’ll study intercultural communication, media, rhetoric, and more.

You'll start by taking two foundation courses that focus on effective speaking, concise writing, and critical thinking. Then you’ll enter the experiential phase, where you’ll gain specific knowledge and hands-on experience in global and cultural communication.

Studying communication around the world and among various cultures will help you communicate with diverse audiences. In this major, you'll analyze cultural values, norms, and behaviors. You'll critique global media and the messages they send, analyzing global Hollywood, the images of Muslim women in transnational media, the information society, and global social movement, among other topics. And you'll study how rhetoric helps shape personal and cultural identities worldwide. With this major, you’ll examine environmental issues from an interdisciplinary scientific perspective. You’ll explore how humans affect nature in order to find solutions to the world’s environmental problems. You’ll build on foundation courses in environmental science with coursework in biology, chemistry, physics, and math. You’ll also study the social, cultural, and political aspects of the environment through courses in ethics and environmental policy. You’ll take your science courses in our brand-new building that features state-of-the-art labs and research facilities.

As an economics major at Suffolk University, you’ll be part of a vibrant community of students, scholars, and professors who synthesize data to solve social issues and substantiate policy decisions.
