At Suffolk, you can earn either a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science in Biology, depending on your area of focus. You’ll begin with a well-rounded assortment of courses in both the lab and classroom focusing on evolution, genetics, ecology, bioethics, and physiology. If you have a specific professional interest, you might choose one of our three concentration options.

Concentration in Biotechnology
This concentration focuses on molecular and microbiology, with a special emphasis on hands-on laboratory opportunities between your sophomore and junior year. You’ll be well-prepared for a career in research or medicine.

Whether you see yourself doing environmental research on rainforests, advocating for better air-quality policies, or working in government, you can explore these interests as an environmental studies major.

You’ll learn to be an interdisciplinary problem-solver, drawing from the natural sciences, humanities, and social sciences. You’ll develop a comprehensive understanding of complex environmental issues. Focus your studies with a concentration in environmental policy or urban environmentalism. You might enhance your studies with service learning for an environmental organization, study abroad in Costa Rica or the Galapagos Islands, or a research project with classmates right here in Boston. Psychology

Concentration in Pure Mathematics
Pure math is an in-depth study of the subject that provides excellent preparation for graduate school and for a career as a mathematician. Interior design
Interior designers use their talents and expertise to transform and enhance society. As an interior design student at Suffolk University, you'll gain the knowledge and skills to influence the way people live, work, play, grow, move, and bond. Innovation and creative problem solving, protection of natural resources, attention to building codes and laws, and understanding human behavior will all play a role in your work.

As a Bachelor of Fine Arts candidate in interior design, you'll develop a comprehensive knowledge of design theory, history, and communication and design skills. Your studies will explore sustainable and socially conscious design, lighting, and furniture design, as well as code adherence and professional practices. You’ll also develop fluency in the two- and three-dimensional design software and computer hardware contemporary designers use.

Studying interior design here is truly immersive. You'll find endless inspiration in Boston's interior landscapes. Our city is filled with Victorian brownstones, industrial lofts, and every style in between—all with their own distinctive look inside. Along with these inspiring spaces, Boston is home to many prestigious interior design and architectural firms. Boston's showrooms and galleries also love working with Suffolk interns.

When you pursue your Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling (MSMHC) at Suffolk University, you’ll gain core counseling, case conceptualization, diagnostic, and treatment planning skills. Plus, you’ll train in a variety of therapeutic approaches and techniques so you can meet your clients’ diverse needs. Our program’s established reputation with area agencies and institutions means you’ll be highly sought-after once you graduate.

At Suffolk, you’ll learn to assess, diagnose, and treat clients with a variety of mental health issues. Through our rigorous scientist-practitioner model, you’ll also learn to incorporate research into everyday practice and apply empirically supported treatment approaches in your work. Our downtown Boston location maximizes your access to networking, internship, and employment opportunities at nearby hospitals and treatment centers, and puts you closer to underserved populations.

You'll train to function in a variety of community mental health settings (e.g., clinics, hospitals, prisons, college counseling centers, day treatment programs, rehabilitation facilities, outreach programs, after-care centers, etc.). As you systematically complete the curriculum, you'll develop a competency base from which to perform effectively in your area of specialization.

Politics, Philosophy & Economics
Suffolk University's Politics, Philosophy & Economics (PPE) program is the first of its kind in the Boston area. An interdisciplinary major that draws from three academic departments, PPE will give you a foundation in policy, ethics, and economics. You'll develop the comprehensive understanding of complex social and political challenges you'll need to help solve them.
