The Finance major focuses on the evolving demands of the global financial environment. You'll be introduced to the latest educational technology, including Compustat, CRSP, StockTrak, Bloomberg, and Morningstar. Our trading room provides a simulated environment where you can analyze the latest stock quotes and compare currency exchange rates, just as professional traders do.

And you’ll learn from faculty who have real-world business experience at companies such as Ford Motor Company, Rho-Theta Associates, and Delta Partners LLC. Your professors offer a first-hand global perspective, having lived, worked, and studied in countries like Tunisia, China, Uganda, and Iran. Others are leading researchers who publish in top academic journals, such as the Journal of Corporate Finance and the Journal of Economics and Business.

Theatre
Suffolk's Theatre Department is student-centered. We'll help you shine, whether you choose to act; write, direct, and design your own original plays; master stage or arts management; intern with leading theatre companies in Boston and abroad; and so much more. Financial Wealth Management
Suffolk’s Wealth Management major combines courses in finance, investment analysis, risk management, and retirement, estate, and financial planning to help you build strong analytical and decision-making skills. When you graduate, you will be prepared for a career in wealth management with a major firm, or to start your own wealth management business, helping individuals and companies plan for their financial futures. In addition, because the wealth management curriculum meets Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Board requirements, you will be eligible to take the CFP exam.

Economics
As an economics major at Suffolk University, you’ll be part of a vibrant community of students, scholars, and professors who synthesize data to solve social issues and substantiate policy decisions. You’ll be treated like a colleague—expect to work alongside professors on key research and policy issues; many of our scholars are frequently called on to provide policy advice and media commentary.

Our program provides a broad study of economics, from micro-and macroeconomics to statistics. With these skills, you can embark on a career in international relations, finance, government, or public policy.

As an economics major, you’ll learn to think logically to solve problems. You’ll also use observations and datasets to make important inferences. You’ll learn to state your ideas clearly and concisely in written assignments and oral presentations. Plus, you’ll discover how to analyze issues like crime, unemployment, inflation, taxes, sports, and voting behavior using economic tools and methods.

Fluency in Spanish is an asset in today’s job market. It’s especially crucial in the business, economic, media, and political worlds. As a Spanish major at Suffolk University, you'll master the language and become culturally fluent, too.

Public Relations
What's it take to succeed in PR? Image is almost everything, but there's a lot you'll need to learn. Suffolk University's public relations major will ground you in the business—and the art—of crafting attention-getting, thought-provoking campaigns that make a difference.

You’ll begin by learning the foundations of public relations, including its history, theory, trends, and practices. You’ll take courses in professional writing, digital and social media, web design, and event planning and promotion. All of this leads to advanced courses in planning public relations campaigns for corporate or nonprofit class clients.

Psychology
Psychology is essentially the study of what makes us tick—the examination of mental processes and human behavior across the lifespan and across cultures. Suffolk’s approach to psychology is holistic: You’ll examine the neurological components of the brain and also study the way societies and circumstances cause different behaviors. Many majors go on to work as therapists and psychiatrists, but nearly every career requires psychological insight.

The major in Global Cultural Studies will prepare you for work and citizenship in an interconnected world where boundaries between nations and cultures are disappearing. This new interdisciplinary major will foster understanding and skills to enhance your ability to collaborate in international contexts.

Through this humanities-based program, you will receive a practical and theoretical education that is essential for understanding cross-cultural encounters and engaging the complexities of the world.

The Global Cultural Studies Major offers a variety of courses across departments including Communication and Journalism, Economics, English, Government, History, World Languages and Cultural Studies, and more. With opportunities for local, national, and global experiential learning, you will be well equipped to enter the global environment.

Art embodies the rich tapestry of human history and cultures across the world. Art history examines how images and monuments communicate and how they function in society: to teach and to move; to exalt and to incite.

As an art history major, you'll gain access to other cultures, other eras, and other ways of thinking. You'll also get ready for your junior year abroad and for an entire lifetime of thinking and living with global and historical perspectives.

Art history majors develop a keen eye plus excellent research, analytic, critical thinking, and communication skills—launching pads for many careers. Suffolk’s art history graduates have gone on to pursue advanced studies in art history, archive management, museum studies, and law. Others have found meaningful careers in a range of arts-related venues such as galleries and museums, auction houses, archives, and nonprofit cultural institutions.
