Philosophy
The Department of Philosophy offers a variety of courses in which you'll study the principles of critical thinking and argumentation that help us address these questions. Here you can take classes on topics from logic to the philosophy of art, from existentialism to environmental ethics, from feminism to the philosophy of race and gender. We also feature courses outside the western tradition, including Chinese philosophy, Buddhism, African philosophy, and Native American religion. In advanced seminars, you'll delve into the works of the great philosophers—Plato, Aristotle, Kant, Heidegger, Wittgenstein, and others.

With this major, you’ll examine environmental issues from an interdisciplinary scientific perspective. You’ll explore how humans affect nature in order to find solutions to the world’s environmental problems. You’ll build on foundation courses in environmental science with coursework in biology, chemistry, physics, and math. You’ll also study the social, cultural, and political aspects of the environment through courses in ethics and environmental policy. Media and film are dynamic concepts that are constantly evolving; therefore, students need to prepare themselves to be adaptable creators in the industries. To that end, the major guides students through considerations of both practical and critical nature to ensure that students learn how the two areas exist with mutual benefit to one another. Upon graduation, students are prepared for both practical work in the industry and graduate studies in film or media theory or a specialized production area.

Theatre
Suffolk's Theatre Department is student-centered. Entrepreneurship

If you’re creative, passionate, driven, and want to be an impact player in the business world, the entrepreneurship major is for you.

The curriculum has two paths: corporate entrepreneurship and launching new ventures.

Incorporate entrepreneurship, the curriculum takes you on a practical journey of idea generation, opportunity feasibility, business planning, and strategic consulting with small firms.

In the launch sequence, you’ll work with faculty to create a new venture. The program is flexible and allows movement between both paths throughout your academic career.

Journalism matters. Learn to report the news across print and digital platforms at Suffolk University. Whether you concentrate in broadcast journalism or print/web journalism, you'll earn a degree that's in-demand and invaluable to your career and grad school plans.

Suffolk University's program is tailored to your goals. You'll start by taking two foundation courses that focus on effective speaking, concise writing, and critical thinking and then courses in writing, online journalism, and media law. Next, you’ll gain specific knowledge and hands-on experience in journalism.

Concentration in Broadcast
In the broadcast journalism concentration, you’ll gain invaluable experience in our capstone course Suffolk U News. Internships are also vital. Suffolk students regularly work at New England Cable News, PBS, and the local affiliates of NBC, CBS, and ABC, and Fox News and ESPN.
