The 3D and Extended Media emphasis in the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art is grounded in an interdisciplinary understanding of traditional and experimental practice. This includes sculpture, ceramics, performance, installation and new-generation digital art practices. The program enhances students' artistic development with coursework that promotes conceptual investigation and an understanding of contemporary issues through the exploration of diverse media. The materials science and engineering degree program immerses you in hands-on study geared to discovering materials for products and technology, and finding new ways to use and improve existing ones. Materials science engineers research, design and develop polymers, metals, ceramics, composites, and other natural and synthetic materials to advance fields such as energy, health care, aerospace and defense. Students earning a Bachelor of Science in Materials Science and Engineering work directly with the materials they study through smelting, composite manufacturing and glassblowing labs. Undergraduates gain research experience in the University of Arizona's world-renowned centers such as the Arizona Materials Lab and the Arizona Research Institute for Solar Energy and through interdisciplinary design projects. If you want to keep communities and individuals healthy, consider majoring in Public Health with a Health Promotion emphasis. Public health educators provide outreach and programming to populations and communities regarding health and safety concerns. The University of Arizona's Bachelor of Science in Public Health is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health. The Health Promotion emphasis is one of several areas of concentration within the major. Students who choose Health Promotion as their emphasis focus on education and intervention methods, community health concerns, community wellness initiatives, and school health and safety. Make a difference in the lives of dual-language youth by majoring in Elementary Education with a bilingual endorsement. Elementary educators with a bilingual endorsement help bilingual students gain foundational footing in core subjects. In addition to a Bachelor of Arts in Education, students in the two-year program also earn an Elementary Certificate K-8 with a bilingual endorsement in English and Spanish. This credential allows them to teach in bilingual or dual-language classrooms or traditional settings. During the program, students split time between the University of Arizona and a local K-8 school. At the elementary school, they immerse themselves in Spanish and gain teaching experience with diverse language learners. Students also have the opportunity to student-teach in Mexico.
