The Master of Music degree provides students with an opportunity to pursue intense, focused study in their music specialty, coupled with a vigorous, balanced curriculum in music theory, music literature, and electives. Students in this major are mentored expertly by senior faculty and exhibit mastery of their specialty at the end of the course of study by way of appropriate capstone experiences, including recitals or theses and comprehensive examinations. The provisions and balance of these experiences comport precisely with the curriculum guidelines required by the National Association of Schools of Music.

Work Permit USA

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.

It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.

A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):

  1. Pre-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment provided to F-1 students before completion of their course of study.
  2. Post-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment available to F-1 students after completing their course of study.
  3. 24 Month STEM Extension: Students enrolled in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) courses can a 24-month extension after their initial Post-Completion OPT authorization.

Unlike traditional disciplines in engineering, the scope of the industrial engineering field is very broad.

An INTO USF Graduate Pathway program in Materials Science and Engineering will prepare you to enter your next semester of a master’s degree program at University of South Florida. After successfully completing the Pathway program, you are guaranteed to enter your next semester of study. This transition to university from an INTO program is called progression.

Material Science and Engineering-M.S.
The Materials Science and Engineering Program here at USF is interdisciplinary and is supported by a care group of dedicated faculty from the College of Engineering and the College of Arts and Sciences. This program offers a Master's Degree in Materials Science and Engineering and a Graduate Certificate in Materials Science and Engineering.

The program focuses on applying the fundamental principles of physics and chemistry to the engineering of materials. The curriculum is very flexible, giving each student to design a curriculum right for them. Their courses are supported by the core faculty affiliated with the program giving them a chance to learn explore a wide variety of materials and develop specialized skills as they see fit.

Some areas that students can specialize in include: electronic materials, nanomaterials, biomaterials, and polymers. Students can pursue a Master's thesis within the program with faculty across the USF campus engaged in materials science and engineering research. With this program, students develop the skills that can prepare for them a career in industrial positions of further aspirations of pursuing a PhD in science or engineering.

Master of Science in Medical Sciences

The major is designed to provide students with advanced training in either Anatomy, Biochemistry, Medical Microbiology, or Pharmacology.  Students successfully completing the major will have a foundation that will prepare them for a professional degree in biomedical science such as a M.D. or Ph.D. or qualify them to work as teachers or research assistants in academia or in the private sector.   The major will provide a solid core of training in the latest findings, concepts, and experimental techniques.  Students will be allowed to individualize their training through elective courses and will have the opportunity to conduct laboratory research.  The major is intended for students who wish training beyond a baccalaureate degree but do not wish to commit to a Ph.D. major or do not meet the qualifications required for admissions into a M.D. or Ph.D. major.

The Bachelor of Arts in Global Business provides students with the knowledge, skills and experience necessary for successful careers in the global business environment. With this preparation, graduates will find employment in many manufacturing, service or knowledge-based industries with global markets, global suppliers, global sources of finance and/or a globally diverse workforce. The Global Business program is unique in that it combines preparation in business administration with language studies and a meaningful overseas work or study experience.

Finance
The Finance major provides a broad-based, analytical program for students anticipating a career in the management of both large and small organizations. Finance provides a good background for students seeking general careers in business. Finance majors can elect to take courses in the following areas that prepare them for entry and advanced careers in: financial management of corporations, management of financial institutions, investments, financial services, insurance, and real estate. In addition, the program in Finance is designed to provide the skills required by students earning degrees in other business disciplines and by students who seek professional degrees in areas such as law and public administration. The Finance program offers courses that enable the graduate to identify and solve problems in the acquisition and allocation of funds by organizations in the public and private sectors in domestic and international settings. It provides the background necessary for managing wealth in a risky environment. Finance relies on an interdisciplinary approach that draws on economic theory, accounting, information systems, and the quantitative decision frameworks of statistics and mathematics. The major is designed to ensure that graduates are familiar with the tools of financial decision making and that they possess the skills to stay abreast of the developments in the field. Master of Accountancy

The objective of the Master of Accountancy (M.Acc.) program is to provide candidates with greater breadth and depth of knowledge in accountancy than is possible in the baccalaureate program. The major is designed to meet the increasing needs of business, government, and public accounting. Students entering the Accountancy major must already have the equivalent of an undergraduate degree in accounting from an accredited school. The Master of Science (M.S.) in Cybersecurity Intelligence and Information Security is designed for information security/cybersecurity professionals who specialize in the intelligence function. Grounded in an innovative STEM-based model for professional analytic education, the program includes a foundation of technical courses that address principles and practices for identifying, assessing, and managing threats to the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of an organization’s informational assets; the role of cryptographic algorithms and systems in protecting against those threats; and, the technical and operational aspects of data/computer communication networks, including network management and security.

Specialized cyber intelligence courses prepare graduates to collect information and assess the intentions, capabilities, and activities of potential adversaries, malignant actors, and insiders in the cyber domain.
