You'll learn how to apply physics while gaining solid problem solving skills and computer-related experience that will help you no matter your chosen path.

Our graduates go on to a variety of innovative careers in industry and education. They're also well-prepared for medical school, law, dental or graduate programs in physics, chemistry, biochemistry and engineering. Premed students and other science majors often major or minor in physics as well to enhance and differentiate their backgrounds and widen their research experiences.

The chemistry-management joint major is designed for students who would like to apply their scientific interests to a business career. The major is appropriate for a variety of careers at the interface of the two disciplines, such as sales and marketing specialists for chemical and pharmaceutical companies, business officers in science-based industries or institutions, and scientific information liaisons (e.g., public relations, political advising, and lobbying).

Our students are on the cutting edge of marketing theory, developing innovative social media campaigns, and engaging in the ongoing online conversation. The marketing landscape is constantly changing, including pressures in the global economy, sweeping changes in technology that have altered the ways in which organizations distribute their products and communicate with their customers, the shift from mass marketing to relationship marketing with the resulting array of market segments and subcultures, and the continued challenges and opportunities posed by issues of social impact and corporate ethics.

Our students work in teams to gather, analyze, and draw conclusions from industry and market data and craft marketing plans for local organizations. You'll learn to design compelling marketing campaigns that reflect your understanding of branding and consumer behavior, as you prepare for marketing opportunities in the workplace.

The major in East Asian Studies (EAS) is designed to provide students with knowledge and understanding of East Asia, a region that has become increasingly significant in the post-Cold War era. Students acquire this knowledge by studying an East Asian language as well as courses in other disciplines that may include art history, economics, film studies, history, literature, philosophy, political science, religion, and sociology.

The major prepares students for further growth beyond college along a variety of paths, such as graduate study, careers in education, employment abroad or in business and institutions specializing in East Asia, and service within and to the Asian American community.

You'll learn to craft intelligent and influential messages — even in 140 characters or less — and comprehensive public relations plans.

The Interdisciplinary Major in Public Relations and Marketing Communications is offered with the Business School and designed to provide grounding and experience in public relations and a firm understanding of the principles and implementation of marketing strategy. At its best, PR/MarCom education embodies intellectual traditions drawn from a wide range of social and hard sciences, as well as professional and liberal arts areas of concentrations. Students receive a BA in PR/MarCom.

Deepen your understanding (and enjoyment) of literature by examining the intricate threads woven through the works of writers ranging from Shakespeare and Dickens to Toni Morrison and Jhumpa Lahiri.

Studying English nurtures your creative spirit while sharpening your skills
You'll study poetry, drama, novels, children's literature, films, and television—guided by award-winning faculty with expertise in prose, poetry, drama, children's literature, and media studies—and discover your own style and talent as an analytical and creative writer, as well as your own skills as a literary critic.

Our students go on to careers in law, publishing, advertising, business, government service, technology, media, journalism, writing and teaching. As an English major, with the ability to read carefully, analyze complex and sophisticated material, and communicate clearly in written and verbal form, your skills will always be in demand.

Our students perfectly blend information technology with computer science, management and communications, able to solve complex computing problems and communicate the results.

Technology is constantly developing and evolving, presenting new challenges and opportunities
Through hands-on class projects you'll learn vital skills — like modern programming language, database management and web applications — and hone your quantitative skills.

As an information technologist, you'll determine user needs and develop, manage, and support technology-based solutions. Our students are well prepared for careers as web developers, web administrators, IT consultants, network supporters, system integrators, system analysts and application developers.

Health informatics is a rapidly growing field that strives to improve the quality and safety of patient care.

Make a difference in health care
With a firm foundation in information technology and computer science, our students tackle critical issues — like how to improve healthcare information security, manage clinical workflow tasks, provide information systems which support research and clinicians' work, and control health information databases — and solve real-world problems.

Through hands-on learning our students can learn about tele-health, Electronic Health Records implementation, and other exciting transformations in the health care industry. Alongside our experienced faculty, you'll apply concepts, theories and practices to achieve better health outcomes.

Our students are well-prepared for careers in IT departments at hospitals, health care centers, and in companies developing software for the health care industry.

Organizations today demand responsive leaders, who can provide vision, are creative, can manage across the organization, and work ethically and effectively in a diverse workforce. This BSBA Program major prepares students to assume well paid entry-level jobs that draw upon skills learned across the Business curriculum. Students gain an understanding of managerial roles, activities, and functions of organizations. Business and Management graduates have found jobs in biotech, financial services, healthcare, and communications. Students can combine a major in Business and Management with a variety of liberal arts disciplines such as psychology, sociology, or data science to enhance knowledge and critical thinking skills and to provide a broader context in which to make a difference in the workplace.

What can you do with a bachelor’s degree in Business and Management?
All organizations need general managers and the Business and Management major gives you the fundamentals to meet job requirements across the economy plus Simmons’ special sauce with diversity, equity, and inclusion content and an intense focus on building individual level skills and confidence to reach your personal best.

The Business and Management major will deliver “how to” knowledge that will help you be a successful employee contributing to the organization’s mission on the business side right from the start, or as your career develops over time.

Our Bachelor’s degree in Business and Management offers flexibility in allowing you to select additional courses that can lead you to career tracks like People Management (HR), Operations Management, and social welfare advocacy. At the heart of it, general management capabilities that will build through this Business and Management major apply to most jobs and will serve you over a career lifetime.

The goals of the Program in Women’s and Gender Studies are to educate students in the theoretical, empirical, and methodological perspectives for considering the status and experiences of women; to consider gender in diverse national and international contexts by studying the multiple and contested meanings and roles of gender; and to develop an understanding of how gender is related to other social categories including race, class, age, sexuality, religion, and nationality. Women’s and Gender Studies courses, whether taken as part of the major or to enrich another discipline, invite students to understand past and present experiences in order to prepare for challenges and opportunities in their future personal, work, and social lives. Majoring in Women’s and Gender Studies has led to careers in management, law, academia, counseling, education, library, museum or archival work, health care, social services, public administration, writing, publishing, and the media.

Learning Outcomes:
Upon graduation students with a BA in Women’s and Gender Studies will have gained the following skills, knowledge, and abilities:

• Critical-Historical Awareness – Students will be adept at considering gender in diverse national and international contexts as a result of studying the multiple and contested meanings and roles of gender from an historical, a multidisciplinary, and a trans-national perspective and will have developed an understanding of how gender is related to other social categories such as race, ethnicity, social class, sexuality, religion, and nationality.
• Interdisciplinary Content – Students will have acquired theoretical, methodological, and empirical perspectives for studying and critically analyzing the history, status, and experiences of women from diverse backgrounds.
• Disciplinary Skills – Students will be skilled at integrating theory and practice and will be able to communicate effectively in both writing and speaking.
• Practical Skills – Through independent learning or internships, students will be prepared to enter the workplace, graduate programs, and community-based volunteer work with an understanding of social justice issues informed by interdisciplinary scholarship and feminist perspectives.
• Leadership Skills – Students will continue in leadership roles that they have either begun or further developed while at Simmons.
