In the Music program at Montana State, students pursue core music studies in performance, theory, and history, along with a broad range of specialized music ensembles. Emphasis is placed on utilization of plant materials to solve specific site problems and students learn written, oral and graphic communication skills necessary to convey creative solutions for landscape planning. Graduates are employed by landscape nurseries, landscape contractors and planning agencies, while others become self-employed as landscape designers and contractors. Many students have chosen to continue advanced studies in programs of landscape architecture.

The Nutrition Science program at Montana State is specifically designed to prepare students for admission to medical, dental or graduate school with the program’s emphasis on nutrition and biochemistry. In addition to nutrition courses, Nutrition Science students also investigate nutrition on a molecular level with coursework on microbiology, micronutrients and metabolism, biomedical genetics and more.

The Livestock Management & Industry option at Montana State stresses the application of science to livestock production, especially in the western United States. In the program, students learn about the principles of economics, range science and physiology to help manage and raise sustainable livestock herds, as well as develop the business acumen to manage ranches, stockyards and other businesses related to livestock production.

Accountants are business professionals who work with others to identify, analyze and solve business problems. At Montana State, the Business – Accounting option is designed to help students develop the necessary technical expertise and broad-based business knowledge required for long-term success in careers such as auditing, assurance, tax consulting, corporate or non-profit accounting and finance, financial analysis, venture capital and financial planning. Montana State’s undergraduate Accounting program is specifically designed to help students experience a smooth transition toward entering the Master of Professional Accountancy program, ideal for if the student wishes to pursue their CPA certification or other advanced financial positions.

In the Mathematics graduate program at Montana State, candidates work in a variety of areas including real and complex analysis, applied mathematics, dynamical systems, mathematical biology, mathematical imaging and probability. Additionally, candidates are able to take advantage of the prestigious MT PEAKS Fellowship, which is specifically designed to broaden candidates’ training beyond academia and into business, industry or governmental pathways.

Candidates in the Native American Studies graduate program at Montana State are able to study a diverse array of interdisciplinary subjects surrounding indigenous history and issues, as well as contribute to MSU's vibrant Native American community.
