Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.

The graduate Industrial and Management Systems Engineering program at Montana State is available as a two-year program or as a one-year "seamless" master's program in conjunction with the bachelor's in Industrial and Management Systems Engineering. In the Medical Laboratory Science option at Montana State, students are prepared for a career in clinical laboratory science by taking coursework in a range of medically-oriented fields including immunology, medical bacteriology, virology, parasitology, hematology, mycology and chemistry. Depending on the student’s needs, the Medical Laboratory Science program offers two plans for students to complete the program. Once training is complete, Medical Laboratory Science students will be qualified to take a national registry exam and become certified as a Medical Laboratory Scientist.
