The Bachelor of Science degree is designed for those students pursuing employment or further education in physics or engineering

Academically equivalent, both bachelor’s of art and bachelor’s of science will full prepare you for a career in economics. Economics is traditionally viewed as a liberal arts major and therefore students often choose the B.A. degree.

Given the strong humanities emphasis within Nebraska Wesleyan’s history program, typically a degree in history is taken as a Bachelor of Arts. Students who combine history with a degree in the Social or Natural Sciences, however, usually take their degree as a Bachelor of Science.

The B.A. and the B.S. in biology can both provide students with the experience and knowledge necessary to have a successful career. A B.A. in biology requires 20 approved hours from Math, Physics, or Chemistry department courses. The B.A. has a more flexible supporting area and is a particularly appealing option for students who would like to combine their biology degree with another area of emphasis.

The Integrative Data Science major is a technology-oriented liberal arts major that brings together twenty-first century skills in computer programming, quantitative reasoning, collaboration, communication, design, and creative thinking. Students who pursue this major will develop the skills to collaborate with and lead interdisciplinary teams in many industries. By taking courses and pursuing internships in a range of disciplines, students will acquire flexible and integrative problem-solving skills for a rapidly-changing professional environment.

The B.A. in art requires an exposure to two-dimensional and three-dimensional media and art history. It can lead to graduate study in art, art history, art therapy or other academic or professional areas.

Students who wish to pursue the PK-12 teaching certificate will also include two methods courses in addition to the requirements for the B.A. in Art: ART 1000 Art in the PK-Elementary School and ART 2000 Art in the Secondary School, for a total of 58 hours in Art. Students will also take additional courses in the department of Education (Secondary Education Endorsement) to meet Nebraska certification education requirements.

The program’s curriculum is split into a generalist curriculum and a specialized curriculum. The generalist curriculum consists of 32 credits hours, including the completion of a 400-hour practicum experience. Once students have completed the generalist curriculum, they will be allowed to progress to the specialized curriculum, which consists of 34 credit hours of advanced coursework, including a minimum of 500 hours of practicum experience. Students who have completed an undergraduate degree in social work from a CSWE accredited program may be able to begin the program with advanced standing and start directly into the specialized curriculum.

You’ll add experience through study abroad, language learning and service as well as through Nebraska Wesleyan’s diverse forum speakers, campus events and student groups.

The Athletic Training program leads to a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Athletic Training. Students who wish to pursue this degree must be formally admitted to the program. This is a selective admissions program with a competitive admission process. Acceptance into the program is based on the admission material completed and submitted to the Program Director on or before March 15. Academically equivalent, both bachelor’s of art and bachelor’s of science will fully prepare you for a career in data analytics. If you choose to graduate with two majors, and one major is only offered as a B.A. or B.S., the second major should match the first degree.
