Given the strong humanities emphasis within Nebraska Wesleyan’s history program, typically a degree in history is taken as a Bachelor of Arts. Students who combine history with a degree in the Social or Natural Sciences, however, usually take their degree as a Bachelor of Science.

The Athletic Training program leads to a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Athletic Training. Students who wish to pursue this degree must be formally admitted to the program. This is a selective admissions program with a competitive admission process. Acceptance into the program is based on the admission material completed and submitted to the Program Director on or before March 15. Academically equivalent, both bachelor’s of art and bachelor’s of science will fully prepare you for a career in data analytics. If you choose to graduate with two majors, and one major is only offered as a B.A. or B.S., the second major should match the first degree.

The B.A. in English requires basic coursework in literature, writing, and language theory, and provides flexibility to students in pursuing additional courses that match their areas of interest and career goals. It can lead to graduate study in English, creative writing, law, or other academic or professional areas.

Foreign language study is strongly encouraged for all English majors.

Each student graduating with a major in English will participate in a senior exit interview, normally in conjunction with ENG 4990 Senior Workshop. This review will provide a means of self-assessment for each student and program assessment for the department.

NWU Gender Studies is Nebraska Wesleyan’s most interdisciplinary academic program. It features professors from 11 fields of study—men and women who teach everything from anthropology to theatre.

Because gender influences so many fields—from health science to history—gender studies is a popular choice among NWU students with multiple majors. Their appreciation of gender’s complexity makes them better professionals, no matter which fields they choose for their careers.

Take business as one example. Competence in gender issues will give you a better understanding of your customers, your employees, your partners and the organizations around you. You will profit in multiple ways from that increased understanding.

The Nebraska Wesleyan University Traditional BSN program offers a traditional 4-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree combining clinical and foundational knowledge including liberal arts courses to receive a more comprehensive education.

Students will gain hands on experience with over 800 clinical hours completed upon graduation from the program. Students will further develop critical thinking, decision-making and communication skills through clinical and preceptorship experiences. Students will also train in a fully equipped skills lab. Access to a simulation lab will be included in the clinical coursework.

This program has small class sizes with experienced faculty in all specialty areas of nursing. A prep course is built into the curriculum to help students succeed on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX).

This BFA program develops your skills as a director through experiences in the classroom and performance laboratory. In recent years, our BFA students have participated in an average of six productions a year.

Directing majors benefit from Nebraska Wesleyan's active production schedule and opportunities to direct shows can begin as early as the second semester of their sophomore year.

We also encourage directing majors to work closely with faculty as members of the production team and in stage management.

This BFA Acting program develops your skills as an actor through experiences in the classroom and performance laboratory.

In recent years, our BFA students have participated in an average of six productions per year. You'll draw experience from a season that includes at least one Shakespeare production, other genres ranging from Greek Tragedy to contemporary works, four musicals, and four wekeends of musical theatre cabarets per year, as well as other faculty- and student-directed productions.

The choice of a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree is available to political science majors. If a student has a second major, the degree choice may be determined by the other major.

The B.A. and the B.S. in biology can both provide students with the experience and knowledge necessary to have a successful career. A B.A. in biology requires 20 approved hours from Math, Physics, or Chemistry department courses. The B.A. has a more flexible supporting area and is a particularly appealing option for students who would like to combine their biology degree with another area of emphasis.
