The B.A. in art requires an exposure to two-dimensional and three-dimensional media and art history. It can lead to graduate study in art, art history, art therapy or other academic or professional areas.

Students who wish to pursue the PK-12 teaching certificate will also include two methods courses in addition to the requirements for the B.A. in Art: ART 1000 Art in the PK-Elementary School and ART 2000 Art in the Secondary School, for a total of 58 hours in Art. Students will also take additional courses in the department of Education (Secondary Education Endorsement) to meet Nebraska certification education requirements.

The Nebraska Wesleyan University Traditional BSN program offers a traditional 4-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree combining clinical and foundational knowledge including liberal arts courses to receive a more comprehensive education.

Students will gain hands on experience with over 800 clinical hours completed upon graduation from the program. Students will further develop critical thinking, decision-making and communication skills through clinical and preceptorship experiences. Students will also train in a fully equipped skills lab. Access to a simulation lab will be included in the clinical coursework.

This program has small class sizes with experienced faculty in all specialty areas of nursing. A prep course is built into the curriculum to help students succeed on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX).

Students majoring in Health and Fitness Studies may pursue interest in such areas as personal training, strength and conditioning training, worksite wellness, health promotions, fitness centers, and graduate school. The program’s curriculum is split into a generalist curriculum and a specialized curriculum. The generalist curriculum consists of 32 credits hours, including the completion of a 400-hour practicum experience. Once students have completed the generalist curriculum, they will be allowed to progress to the specialized curriculum, which consists of 34 credit hours of advanced coursework, including a minimum of 500 hours of practicum experience. Students who have completed an undergraduate degree in social work from a CSWE accredited program may be able to begin the program with advanced standing and start directly into the specialized curriculum.

Academically equivalent, both bachelor’s of art and bachelor’s of science will full prepare you for a career in economics. Economics is traditionally viewed as a liberal arts major and therefore students often choose the B.A. degree.

The B.A. in English requires basic coursework in literature, writing, and language theory, and provides flexibility to students in pursuing additional courses that match their areas of interest and career goals. It can lead to graduate study in English, creative writing, law, or other academic or professional areas.

Foreign language study is strongly encouraged for all English majors.

Each student graduating with a major in English will participate in a senior exit interview, normally in conjunction with ENG 4990 Senior Workshop. This review will provide a means of self-assessment for each student and program assessment for the department.
