The Africana Studies program at Rowan is devoted to the study of the historical and contemporary challenges, experiences, and contributions of Africans, African Americans, and people of African descent throughout the world. One of the program's greatest strengths is its unique interdisciplinary approach to global black studies that offers students an array of courses from 12 academic departments on campus. Students can major or double major in Africana Studies, or pursue a minor.

Southern New Jersey's fastest-growing demographic of minorities is a microcosm of America's increasingly diverse populations that live in majority-minority cities across the country. As the nation and the world become more diverse, it is important for universities to offer majors like Africana Studies that will help students to not only develop race literacy, but also to learn other cultural competencies needed to excel in an increasingly multicultural workplace and globalized world. Our Master of Science (M.S.) in Pharmaceutical Sciences prepares you for a career in the highly interdisciplinary field of pharmaceutical sciences. The field of pharmaceutical science involves the integration of concepts from organic chemistry, biochemistry, physiology, pharmacology, and molecular biology for the design, and synthesis of drugs as well as for understanding the mechanism of drug action. As a practitioner in this field, you may work on the discovery and development of novel drugs, creating efficient use of existing drugs, and lowering the cost of therapy employing less expensive protocols for manufacturing drugs.

The mission of the Psychology Department, as part of the College of Science & Mathematics at Rowan University, is to provide a high-quality education to undergraduate and graduate students, engage in cutting-edge research in a variety of disciplines and sub-disciplines within psychology and to provide services to children and their families in the South Jersey region.

To achieve our mission, the department at Rowan University offers two undergraduate degree programs: Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (33 credits) and a Bachelor of Science in Psychological Science (60 credits).

The mission of the finance program is to provide students with challenging career-oriented undergraduate and graduate preparation needed to be successful in finance careers and to pursue graduate studies.

Finance career opportunities may be sought in such areas as financial analysis, cash management, credit analysis, pension and investment fund management, capital budgeting analysis, investment and commercial banking, and securities management.

Management Concentration

The MBA Concentration in Management of Information Systems (MIS) will enhance a student's preparedness to assume jobs in a world of rapidly changing technology by preparing them to develop business solutions through the use of information and technology resources. Students will gain experience in dealing with technological issues, understanding the role of humans in developing technology-based solutions and learn to manage technology-related projects.

Our Master of Music provides intensive experiences in performance, conducting, or composition, as well as courses geared to enhance your knowledge and understanding of the literature of your area of concentration - and a greater understanding of music in general. Our program is tailored for aspiring musicians who wish to make a career as a performer, conductor, or composer.

To play a meaningful role in world discourse, protect our national security and to compete with our international counterparts in every field of study imaginable, the knowledge of modern languages is now a fundamental and indispensable part of every student's education.

As citizens of today's world, our students are equipped with the ability to communicate and interact with large populations of speakers coming from different cultural and ideological backgrounds.

The Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology degree, through the four-field approach of cultural, physical, linguistic, and archaeology, is designed to prepare students to succeed in the 21st century and find employment in research, teaching, development, advocacy, health care among diverse populations, consumer research, community-based organizations, non-profits, and public service. Anthropology Majors will have the option of concentrating their studies in one of four subfield tracks. These are forensic anthropology, museum studies, medical anthropology, and cultural resource management and archaeology. The BA Anthropology degree will also support those students who wish to pursue further study in graduate or professional schools. By acquiring an anthropological perspective on diversity, culture, and ethnography as well as developing strong social and natural scientific research skills, students will expand their career opportunities.

Our Master of Arts in History is tailored toward increasing competence in historical studies for preparatory or supplementary teaching, on both the high school or community college level. It is also appropriate if you are seeking qualification for admission to a doctoral program at another institution or if you are pursuing an advanced-level liberal education for intellectual challenge and personal fulfillment. We offer a thesis and non-thesis track.
