If you want an in-demand career that allows you to play a critical role in the healthcare system, choose the Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science. You’ll become the go-to person for detecting and diagnosing disease because you’ll be the one analyzing blood, tissue, and other samples. In AUM’s program, you’ll study chemistry, hematology, immunology, immunohematology, and microbiology—and put that theoretical knowledge to work in AUM’s laboratory-based training. Most medical laboratory scientists work in hospitals, but you can also work in:

• Commercial laboratories
• Departments of public health
• Agencies such as the U.S Food and Drug Administration
• Forensic science settings, such as law enforcement, analyzing crime scenes

Environmental scientists use their knowledge of earth’s systems to protect the environment and human health. They do this by cleaning up contaminated areas, making policy recommendations, or working with industry to reduce pollution and waste. Soil and plant scientists, and ecologists often work in remediation efforts, for a sanitation company, in manufacturing, at a university, or for a not-for-profit organization. Other environmental scientists are engaged in environmental policy, planning, and management for local governments, performing research-intensive work. Some professionals in this field have careers at the Environmental Protection Agency, the National Park Service, the United States Geological Survey and other agencies.

Environmental scientists are problem solvers. They research environmental and health problems to determine their causes and come up with solutions. A Secondary Education General Science degree prepares students to teach general science courses in the areas of chemistry, earth and space science, physics, and biology at the middle, junior, and senior high school levels (grades 6-12).

The General Biology concentration prepares students for a wide range of jobs and post-graduate options, including graduate school, health professions, and others. It is an excellent choice for students who know they want to study biology but are not certain what their ultimate goal may be.

AUM’s BSBA in Finance offers a mix of applied and theoretical courses with an emphasis on applying practical knowledge and skills in the workplace. Through the successful completion of courses in the Finance core, you will garner the terminology, tools and skills necessary for a career in the financial services industry or functional area of financial management, as well as for graduate study. The program requires completion of a broad core of lower division courses that comprise the AUM core curriculum and an upper division business core that emphasizes a common body of knowledge and tools underlying the successful practice of business administration.

In this program you’ll learn to determine the value of businesses, help new businesses find the capital they need to succeed or assist a young couple in planning for a comfortable retirement. You’ll get a solid foundation in financial institutions, financial planning, and financial management before choosing to concentrate in one of these areas or select advanced courses in finance, accounting or economics.

The program of study in marketing provides the knowledge students need to successfully create customer value in a dynamic environment. Creating customer value requires a balance between thinking logically and creatively, and the marketing special­ization challenges students to do both. Students also have opportunities to develop interpersonal and communication capabilities, and valuable skills in demand by local, national and international employers.
