Learn about nutrition and the research, development, packaging, and distribution of our food supply. At LSU, you will participate in hands-on learning, professional development, and faculty-led research to prepare for a health-related profession or career in business or agriculture.

Nutritional Sciences/Pre-medicine: This concentration will prepare you for a career in the health professions, specifically dietetics or medicine, or in the food industry. Since nutrition plays a role in the prevention and treatment of many chronic and acute diseases, an understanding of the role of nutrients in the body provides pre-medical students with a strong basis for building their medical careers.

In this program, you can expect to gain a wide-ranging view of world issues while focusing on a particular geographic region or areas such as global diplomacy. In international studies, you will also have opportunities to participate in study abroad programs and develop in-depth knowledge of the languages and cultures of your chosen area.

• Asia: The concentration in Asia focuses on the religion, politics, history, art, and literature of South and East Asia. This is a huge and diverse region encompassing the majority of the world’s population. The region includes important industrialized economies such as Japan, newly prosperous states like Korea, and nations undergoing or poised for rapid economic growth such as China and India. With such economic importance and potential, and a number of unresolved territorial disputes, U.S. policy has recently begun to pivot towards a greater focus on Asia.

If you’re a natural-born “mathlete,” a degree in mathematics can lead to a career in many exciting areas, including actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, and secondary education. You can also pursue a graduate degree or professional degree in fields such as law and business.

Mathematical Statistics
This field of study emphasizes mathematical analysis, probability, and some practical statistics courses to prepare you for graduate school in statistics or a career in practical statistics. Through this program, which was developed in cooperation with the Department of Experimental Statistics, you may obtain a minor in experimental statistics by taking a proper choice of required electives and one additional class.

The screen arts program gives you the opportunity to study the history, theory, and practice of film and media, approaching the field as both an industry and an art. With classes ranging from critical analysis to hands-on film production, you will be prepared to enter the growing film industry in Louisiana or to go on for further graduate work in film school and master’s or PhD programs.

Management will help you explore the many facets of organizational behavior, industrial and labor relations, as well as an appreciation and understanding of global management practices, among others. You can pursue these areas further through the human resource management concentration, international management concentration, or strategic leadership concentration.

This curriculum is diverse with opportunities to study forest management of hardwood and pine forests, wetlands, wildlife, conservation biology, fisheries, aquaculture, habitat management, or prepare for a career as a wildlife-oriented veterinarian. Curricula emphasizes field instruction. Unique facilities available through this curriculum include the School of Renewable Natural Resources’ Lee Memorial Forest, an actively managed forest, which has accommodations and teaching facilities so that you can get hands-on experience in the field.

Wildlife Ecology: With this concentration, you will study a broader range of wildlife than other specializations, including recreationally and culturally important game species and ecologically important non-game species. Most students in this area intend to pursue advanced degrees.

Learn about the properties and composition of matter and the interactions and alterations of substances. Chemistry is at the core of most scientific disciplines, including the study of polymers, biotechnology, pollution control, and energy. There are nine available concentrations, which will allow you to narrow your focus to the career track that works best for you or help you prepare for graduate study. 

Environmental Chemistry
Recommended for students pursuing careers as a chemical professional or for entrance to graduate study in chemistry, this area focuses on the study of the sources, reactions, transport, effects, and fates of chemical species in the air, soil, and water environments.

Through the textiles, apparel, and merchandising curriculum, you can work toward your dream by taking advantage of its unique learning opportunities to gain technical and creative knowledge. Refine your critical thinking skills, gain expertise in the area of product development, and learn how to market your final product to consumers in a global marketplace. Learn about the art and science of textile production and development, including materials, processes, and technologies involved in today’s industry.

Kinesiology is the study of human movement and the practice of helping people understand how their body performs, how to maintain proper physical health, and how to maximize their body's potential.

• Physical Activity and Health: This is a broad undergraduate degree in kinesiology.

LSU has the only program in Louisiana that will prepare you for a career in international business. The international trade and finance degree is an economics degree with a concentration in international business. Want to work for an international company?
