The BA in Early Childhood Education (ECHD) prepares teacher candidates to address the learning and socio-emotional needs of children from birth to third grade. This intensive, field-based program prepares every candidate to work democratically with diverse children and families, including those with special needs and second language backgrounds. It leads to a combination of Illinois teaching credentials.

Roosevelt's program is the only bachelor's level histotechnology training program in the state of Illinois. The affiliation with Northwestern Memorial Hospital is exclusive and only current RU students are eligible to apply for the clinical training portion of the program.

The emphasis of the Master of Science in Biology degree program is to develop practical research and professional skills and a thorough conceptual foundation in biological science. The program is course-based and includes a one-semester research experience. Students who are prepared for additional research training may pursue a master’s thesis under the sponsorship of a department faculty member.

Radiology technologists are involved in direct patient care. Radiographers position imaging equipment and adjust controls to produce diagnostic quality images and assist radiologists in performing specialized imaging procedures. Radiographers work in a variety of settings including hospitals, diagnostic centers, doctor's offices, clinics, and orthopedic practices. Certified radiology technologists may go on to be trained in other advanced imaging techniques, including Computed Axial Tomography (CAT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), and Positron Emission Tomography (PET), mammography, and interventional radiography. Advanced career options in education, administration and research are also possible.

As the world becomes more reliant on internet-based technologies, there is high demand for professionals trained in information security. Roosevelt’s Bachelor of Science in Cyber and Information Security program is designated a Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) by the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). At Roosevelt economics goes beyond the curriculum that is currently being taught at universities around the world. It presents and challenges students with radically different economic perspectives and alternative schools of thought. Roosevelt is one of the few universities in the United States where students can study economics from green, institutionalist, Post Keynesian, anarchistic, rhetorical, Marxist and other points of view, while gaining technical proficiency in conventional Neoclassical and Keynesian methods. Our faculty are drawn to the study of economics by a commitment to social justice. Economics students are prepared to be socially conscious citizens and leaders in their professions, whether in business, public service, research, teaching or other careers.

The Orchestral Studies program prepares students majoring in a woodwind, brass, or string instrument, harp or percussion for a career as orchestral musicians.

The Bachelor of Arts in Biology is an option for students who want an in-depth humanistic education in biology without completing all of the science and mathematics courses required for the BS in Biology. The biology BA allows students the flexibility to fashion a customized undergraduate experience; for example, completing a double-major or multiple minors.

Political science is the study of the collective decisions that shape our common fate. Political scientists study topics including the outcome of elections, the acquisition and exercise of power, the causes of war, the design and function of electoral systems; the history of political thought; the adoption and implementation of public policies; the comparative efficacy of political systems around the world; the operation of legal systems, and many more.

Actuarial science applies probability theory and risk management to the areas of life and health insurance, property and casualty insurance, pension plans, and other employee benefit plans. Risk analysts and actuaries, who evaluate the long-term financial impact of these plans on both the issuing company and the purchaser or beneficiary of the plan, are employed by insurance companies, consulting firms, large corporations and governmental agencies. The major in actuarial science emphasizes the mathematical theory that underlies risk evaluation.
