The Bachelor of Fine Arts track in Acting is offered for students who, upon graduation, plan to pursue a specialized performance career in Acting. It provides the student with a thorough foundation in theatre complemented by very structured and intensive career preparation in all areas of acting. Class work is augmented with practical production experiences. Drawing upon the teachings of Stanislavski-based methodologies, as well as other successful practical acting techniques, the professional acting program offers an organic approach to performance training. The program begins with a focus on the fundamentals of acting: development of imagination, selfawareness, improvisation, voice production/diction and movement. During the first two years, the student also receives training in script analysis, singing and dance. The training then moves to an emphasis on characterization, character development and studio training/scene study. This practical study, drawn from the total range of dramatic literature, provides the student with performance experiences ranging from the classical to the contemporary, including verse and musical theatre. The program culminates with a professional internship where students are able to apply their education in a real world work environment. While most students choose to enter the work force following graduation, the BFA is an excellent degree for students interested in pursuing graduate studies in theatre. Work within the BFA program requires energy and dedication; therefore, other part-time study or outside employment is very challenging. BFA standards are high, both for admission and for continuation in the program.

Students completing the Forensic Science - Chemistry Track B.S. degree will also meet the requirements for ACS certification. This track is designed to allow students the flexibility to prepare for multiple careers in forensics through selection of restricted elective courses. Students should be advised that background checks similar to those required for law enforcement officers are likely to be a condition of employment (Reference: NIJ Report NCJ 203099).

Communications and Signal Processing Track
Develop and apply theory and algorithms in the broad fields of communications, networked systems and signal processing. In this track, you’ll have a variety of technical electives to choose from including wireless communication, satellite communication, communication networks, smart grid networks and image processing.

The study of human communication allows students to develop critical thinking skills, an understanding of cultural and gender-related differences in how people communicate, and it sharpens their marketable skills such as writing, public speaking and persuasion.

Students with a B.A. in human communication pursue jobs in a wide range of industries including management, sales, human resources, higher education (admissions and student services), marketing and training. Many students also continue their education in graduate school, law school and business or professional graduate degree programs.

Students must choose one track from the following: General Human Communication, Business and Professional Communication, Health Communication, Interpersonal Communication, or Social Innovation and Activism.

The program’s liberal arts emphasis also provides a flexible curriculum, allowing you to explore a diverse range of interests through elective courses. Some electives focus on music, while others are non-music courses that complement your area of study courses, such as history, business, communications, humanities and much more.

While this degree track is not focused on performance, you’ll have plenty of opportunity to perform — whether it’s as part of a musical ensemble or our 350-person marching band, in recitals, operas, in student organizations or as part of our resident symphony orchestra. A capstone project at the end of your studies allows you to show what you’ve learned and perform or present it — applying the knowledge and skills you’ve learned during previous courses while designing something catered to your learning goals.

Environmental engineers work at the interface of the natural and built environment to protect society from adverse environmental factors and the environment from natural and human activities. UCF’s program focuses on air pollution control, water and wastewater treatment, solid and hazardous waste management, environmental health, and remediation. Environmental engineers are responsible for improving the quality of life and safety of society, and plan, design, permit, and maintain projects to comply with regulations and improvement of water, soil, and air quality. UCF’s students are active in the Society of Environmental Engineers and other student organizations.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts track in Musical Theatre is offered for students who, upon graduation, plan to pursue a specialized performance career on the musical theatre stage. It provides the student with a thorough foundation in theatre complemented by very structured and intensive career preparation in all areas of musical theatre. The Musical Theatre B.F.A. program offers a sequence of courses in acting, movement, voice, dance, music theory, and piano. Classwork is augmented with practical production experiences. Drawing upon a variety of acting, dance, and voice methodologies, the professional musical theatre performance program offers an organic approach to musical theatre performance training. The first two years focus on the fundamentals of music theory, piano, acting, ballet, jazz, and musical theatre voice, with an emphasis on the development of artist's instrument. During the junior and senior years, emphasis is placed on studio training, musical theatre scene study, and musical theatre repertoire. The program culminates with a professional internship where students are able to apply their education in a real world work environment. The B.S. in Mechanical Engineering program helps you gain an understanding of core concepts such as mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science, structural analysis and electricity. You’ll pair these core principles with tools like computer-aided design software to design and analyze manufacturing plants, industrial equipment and machinery, cars, aircraft, robotics, medical devices and much more.
