The UCF Department of Statistics & Data Science acquaints students with in the methods of collection, analysis, interpretation, presentation and organization of data and the use of complex data in many different applications. The department offers two undergraduate degrees, one in statistics and one in actuarial science; an M.S. degree with two tracks in data mining and statistical computing; and SAS certificate program and a Ph.D. degree in big data analytics.

The BS in Teacher Education program at UCF prepares you to effectively teach art, physical education or world language subjects at the elementary (K-5), middle (6-8) and high school (9-12) grade levels. Using current technologies in the classroom, you’ll gain first-hand experience in developing pedagogy and content knowledge to meet the needs of students and learn how to teach learners with varying abilities.

Throughout your time at UCF, you’ll have many opportunities to engage in additional professional development workshops as well as participate in an annual student showcase. The KnightED Talks workshops, offered throughout the fall and spring semesters, provide you with regular professional learning on topics of relevance to the teaching profession. As an electrical engineering major, you’ll revolutionize the way we live. Society depends on electrical engineers to create, design, produce, operate and maintain the world’s equipment and services as well as to solve future life challenges with advances in science and technology.

Power and Renewable Energy Track
Gain an in-depth understanding of power system operation and control, renewable energy integration, machines, microgrid design and operation, power markets and data analytics. In this track, you’ll have an opportunity for hands-on training in smart grid technologies. Choose from a diverse range of technical electives that cover the areas of power and renewable energy.

The Bachelor of Science degree in Senior Living Management is an interdisciplinary program that merges hospitality, gerontology and healthcare services. It will provide undergraduate students with the appropriate competitive skillset to acquire a managerial position in various types of senior living facilities, especially independent living, assisted living and continuous care retirement communities. It will provide a career path for students seeking employment in the senior living industry as business practitioners as opposed to that of direct care giver. The aim of this educational program is for UCF graduates to become the future managers and leaders of the senior living industry.

The Business Economics major for the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration provides you with specialized training in economics along with core skills in business administration. Throughout the program, you’ll have the flexibility to select from a variety of courses that allow you to customize your education program to your personal interests and career goals.

Build a solid background in economics and develop a unique perspective to help companies and organizations improve their decision-making and understand the consequences of their decisions. Explore areas such as data acquisition and analysis, interpersonal communication skills, critical thinking, report writing, and develop competency with relevant software. You’ll learn about economics and business careers through research, informational interviews of professionals, and exposure to work environments through job shadowing, volunteer or internship opportunities.

Event planning is a highly complex and dynamic field that comes with many challenges and opportunities. The BS in Event Management program provides you with the theoretical and practical tools needed to lead the future of the event industry. Our program provides you with a toolbox of resources, best practices and other skills needed to succeed.

Your courses will cover a broad set of skills that prepare you to manage small to large-scale events — from inception to implementation. Learn from world-renowned educators who bring years of experience to the classroom. Explore topics such as event management, including risk management, marketing, finance and logistics while utilizing the newest technologies and emerging industry trends. Plus, you’ll gain greater insight into a wide range of events like fairs, festivals, entertainment and sporting events, meetings and tradeshows. As you progress through your studies, you’ll be ready to break into this fast-paced and rewarding industry from day one.

The B.S. in Mechanical Engineering program helps you gain an understanding of core concepts such as mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science, structural analysis and electricity. You’ll pair these core principles with tools like computer-aided design software to design and analyze manufacturing plants, industrial equipment and machinery, cars, aircraft, robotics, medical devices and much more.

Throughout your coursework, you’ll get hands-on experience in applying the principles of engineering, science and mathematics to model, analyze, design and realize physical systems, components and processes. The B.A. in Film offers courses in film theory, history and criticism. The aim of the program is to give students a broad and in-depth knowledge of these areas. The emphasis is on the aesthetics, styles and forms of film. The first two years of the program provide students with a general background and introduction. In the second two years, the program concentrates on the analysis of specific film practices such as editing, color, sound, staging, cinematography, narrative form and theoretical and historical perspectives.

In the advanced courses, student learning will be verbal and visual, written and practical. Students are expected to have access to a digital video camera and an editing suite. Courses are sequenced and coordinated over the period of the degree enabling students to build on their learning in a progressive and coherent manner. An Honors Dissertation is an option in the final year.

Students of Film have the advantage of stimulus and interaction with faculty and students in other disciplines and the opportunity to take elective courses in these areas. The emphasis on film form and the integration of theoretical/historical and practical studies in the UCF program makes it unique and innovative.

Environmental engineers work at the interface of the natural and built environment to protect society from adverse environmental factors and the environment from natural and human activities. UCF’s program focuses on air pollution control, water and wastewater treatment, solid and hazardous waste management, environmental health, and remediation. Environmental engineers are responsible for improving the quality of life and safety of society, and plan, design, permit, and maintain projects to comply with regulations and improvement of water, soil, and air quality. UCF’s students are active in the Society of Environmental Engineers and other student organizations.
