Overview
The Industrial Engineering Technology program prepares students for management and engineering positions in manufacturing and service organizations such as healthcare, banking and finance, transportation, retail, and government. Graduates may be involved in supply chain management, data-driven economic decisions, planning and scheduling of work methods and expected output, quality assurance, optimization of facilities layout and processes.
As an industrial engineering technology major at University of Dayton, you will develop engineering skills through industry-sponsored projects and experiential learning opportunities. With our small class sizes, faculty members with real-world engineering experience, and well-equipped laboratories, we utilize hands-on learning to equip students with applied engineering knowledge and skills that will help you to minimize waste, improve efficiency and make things better. Graduates from our Industrial Engineering Technology program typically go into careers as an industrial engineer, manufacturing engineer, quality engineer, project engineer, continuous improvement engineer and safety engineer.

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):

At the University of Dayton, our electronic and computer engineering technology majors prepare for careers in at a variety of tasks including analog and digital design, microprocessor hardware and software applications, electronic controls, automation, engineering sales and support, product design and development, and data communications.
The electronic and computer engineering technology curriculum includes a strong emphasis on computers and applied engineering topics in circuit analysis, analog and digital electronic design, digital communications, digital circuits, microprocessors, software, and data acquisition instrumentation.
