The Ole Miss Hospitality Management program prepares students to handle a wide array of needs across the hospitality industry. Valuable hands-on experiences enables students to receive the academic foundation and practical experience needed to be successful after graduation.

The food service emphasis is designed for students seeking careers in restaurants and food-service operations such as restaurants, hotel eating establishments, etc.

Philosophy is the study of the fundamental ideas underlying every dimension of human life. A major in philosophy helps one to think clearly, communicate persuasively, engage in moral reasoning, and formulate a coherent approach to life. Typically, philosophy majors go on to graduate school, law school, medical school, theological studies, or careers in business.

Philosophy majors consider the questions at the core of human experience - the nature of reality, the extent of human knowledge, the basis of moral and ethical thought and behavior, the resolution of conflict, and the origin of belief. Students may also choose an optional emphasis in religious studies.

Chinese majors at the University of Mississippi study the language, linguistics, literature, history, and culture of China. They gain the cultural awareness and intellectual strategies necessary to navigate the interconnected and multicultural world in which we live.

The General Business curriculum includes the core business subjects, an internship or study abroad opportunity, and a minor from another discipline outside the business school. The B.A. in art is a broad liberal arts degree for students who want a general education with a strong emphasis on art and a minor in another discipline. Students who major in art are creative thinkers who visualize the world around them to create contemporary and conceptual works of art.

The Department of Mathematics offers a B.A. in mathematics for students who wish a broad education in a mathematical field in preparation for careers in teaching or other areas.

The B.A. degree allows greater compatibility with other areas of study, and prepares students for careers such as education through a broad knowledge of different subfields of both theoretical and applied mathematics.

Experience the dynamic field of Integrated Marketing Communications. It's where marketing meets creativity in a future-focused, real-world curriculum. IMC is about crafting communication across all forms of media to shape brands and influence behaviors.

The integrated marketing communications degree program focuses on the full spectrum of communication tools, with particular attention to interactive technology and media; comprehensive planning and implementation of strategies and tactics; discovery and accommodation of consumers' perceptions and demands, and measurable "bottom-line" results on a global scale. The degree is designed to teach how to understand, engage, persuade, and activate consumers. It includes the study of advertising, public relations, brand management, and research into consumer insights, enabling students to build a customized toolbox of professional skills. A variety of core courses, electives, and specializations are offered, all to prepare students for productive IMC careers and adaptation to ever-changing business environments.

The Department of Modern Languages offers the M.A. in modern languages with emphases in French, German, linguistics, Spanish, and teaching English as a second language (TESOL).

Specialization - German
An M.A. in Modern Languages with a specialization in German gives graduates a high proficiency in communicative skills and a deep awareness of cultures in the German-speaking world. The degree prepares students for a teaching career at a variety of levels as well as doctoral work in the discipline.

The M.S. in mathematics is designed primarily for students who are attracted to mathematics as a major scholarly pursuit, including students who plan eventually to work toward the doctorate in this field. The M.S. degree also prepares students who are looking for professional careers in mathematics, either as teachers or as research mathematicians.

The M.A. degree provides students with an intensive study of the different fields, theories, and research methods in contemporary political science. The degree prepares students for doctoral study in political science, and for careers in education, government, or policy analysis. Two options are offered: One, which requires a written thesis, is for students primarily interested in political science research; the other, which replaces the thesis with a written comprehensive examination, is for students who are more concerned with the practical application of their political science expertise.
