The major in computer science for the B.A. degree offers a flexible curriculum that enables the study of computer science to be combined with studies in other areas of the liberal arts and sciences. The law studies program is designed for the student who wishes to pursue a career as a paralegal or legal assistant.

The M.S. in engineering science is offered in a number of emphasis areas: aeroacoustics, chemical engineering, civil engineering, computational hydroscience, computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, electromagnetics, environmental engineering, geology, geological engineering, hydrology, mechanical engineering, material science and engineering, and telecommunications.

A M.S. in engineering science with emphasis in environmental engineering prepares a student with advanced technical knowledge and communication skills for pursuing a career in industry, engineering research and development, public service, or for doctoral work. Students can concentrate in any of the following specialty areas: water resources, watershed systems, hydrology, surface water quality, stormwater, wastewater, solid waste, air pollution, groundwater modeling and remediation, and remote sensing and geospatial technologies. Students entering the program come from a variety of engineering and nonengineering disciplines, such as geology, chemistry, biology, and mathematics.

What do you want to learn? The General Business curriculum includes the core business subjects, an internship or study abroad opportunity, and a minor from another discipline outside the business school. This gives you the flexibility to define yourself according to your vision of the future, while grounding you in global business knowledge usable in any future you choose.

Political science is the study of political institutions and political behavior at the local, state, national, and international levels. Students of political science will develop critical thinking, writing, and oral communication skills essential to effective citizenship, as well as many careers.

Political science majors at the University of Mississippi conduct policy analysis and study political actors and organizations within the context of American government and politics, comparative government and politics, and international relations. The Department of Mathematics offers a B.S. in mathematics for students who wish to pursue graduate training in mathematics or to undertake careers in mathematically oriented professions. The B.S. degree allows the freedom to pursue mathematical depth in areas such as pure mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, discrete mathematics, mathematics and computer science, or finance and actuarial science.

Emphasis - Sales
The sales emphasis is designed to help prepare marketing students for careers in professional sales, primarily for business-to-business products and services. The coursework includes a study of influence and persuasion, salesforce management, client negotiations, account management, and business development.

The B.S. degree in physics is recommended for students wishing to go to graduate school in physics. It also prepares a student for teaching physics, for graduate or professional schools, such as law school or education school, and for jobs in technical fields. Students interested in teaching high school physics may need a secondary education certification along with the degree.

The Master of Taxation & Data Analytics program offers specialization in both taxation and data analytics. Students in this program are given many opportunities to gain hands-on experience in data analytics and the latest relevant technologies. The program includes five accountancy and taxation courses, three data analytics courses, one taxation elective, and one accountancy elective.

The M.A. in Southern studies is an intense, interdisciplinary course of study touching on all facets of Southern life, history, and culture. The program is the only one of its kind in the country, and students can study an array of Southern topics and issues, from Faulkner to the blues, from the Civil War to the civil rights movement, from folk art to fundamentalism.
