The objective of the M.Tax. is to provide students with a greater breadth and depth in accounting education and a specialization in the tax area. The purpose of this program is to provide education to allow entry into a professional tax career upon graduation and prepare for continuing growth and development.

The B.A. in Southern studies involves the interdisciplinary study of the American South. The program brings together faculty members from the humanities and social sciences to explore the importance of region as a context of human experience. Through a variety of disciplines, including African American studies, anthropology, art, history, literature, music, politics, religion, and sociology, Southern studies seeks to investigate the challenges and contributions of the region, in order to situate the South in the fabric of American life. The undergraduate program teaches students both knowledge about the people, past and present, of the American South and a variety of techniques about studying those people.

The Master of Music is an advanced professional degree designed to develop a particular area in music to a high level of specialization. The university offers the M.M. with the following emphases:

• Performance in woodwind, brass, string, or percussion instruments, piano, and voice;
• Music education;
• Choral conducting;
• Musicology;
• Music theory;
• Ethnomusicology;
• Collaborative piano.

Emphasis - Ethnomusicology
The M.M. degree with an emphasis in ethnomusicology is an advanced professional degree designed to give the student a broad research background while also providing a 24-credit specialization. A thesis is required.

The Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and Nutrition program at the University of Mississippi provides a solid foundation in food science and preparation as it relates to human health and well-being. The program in dietetics and nutrition provides an academic path for students to enter careers or advanced programs in dietetics and nutrition.

Economics is the study of the allocation of resources. Using mathematical and statistical models, economists consider how resources such as labor, land, money, and technology are distributed.  Economics majors gain a broad understanding of the field of economics as well as skills in statistics, mathematics, organization, research methodology, and verbal and written communication.

Economics provides a broad and systematic way of thinking about social, financial, and business problems. The B.A. in economics prepares a graduate for many positions in business and government. Some positions are economic analyst, statistician, and research assistant.

The Risk Management and Insurance major prepares students for exciting careers in an industry that has a high demand for talent. Students at Ole Miss gain marketable skills regarding the assessment and management of risk.

What will you learn?
Risk impacts individuals, businesses, and governments across the entire world. Without risk there is no reward. The RMI curriculum focuses on commercial risk management and culminates in a capstone course where you will perform a comprehensive risk management audit of a company, write a detailed report of risk control and transfer recommendations, and present your solutions to a panel of experts. You will also find out where you fit best in the industry by working as an intern - most students earn 6 hours of academic credit for working paid summer internships. Student internships include duties ranging from designing social media strategies for insurance brokers to underwriting insurance policies.

The M.B.A. exposes students to a variety of subjects, including statistics, economics, organizational behavior, business communication, marketing, financial strategy, operations management, and information technology management. The M.B.A. is available as either a Campus program or as a professional program. The campus M.B.A. can be taken on either a full-time or part-time basis with all courses offered in the evenings and on the Oxford Campus. The professional M.B.A. is designed for working business professionals and involves a variety of online technological delivery modes

The Bachelor of Music curriculum prepares students to become professional musicians or vocalists, to teach music at the K-12 levels, or for graduate or professional school. Students select a concentration in instrumental, keyboard, or vocal training.

The B.M. in music is offered for students seeking a university education that includes preparation for careers in music teaching or performance. The B.M. degree is available in the following emphases: music performance and music education.

The M.S. in biological science prepares a student for various academic, industry, or government professional positions that involve freshwater biology, medicine, education, molecular genetics, ecology and conservation biology.

A Bachelor of Science in Geology allows students to study the composition and structure of the earth, earth history (environments and life), natural hazards (earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanism, etc), mineral and energy extraction, surface and groundwater, ocean processes, and more.

Study the earth, the materials of which it is made, their structure and the processes acting upon them

Geologists study the earth – its history, its composition and processes, as well as potential hazards such as earthquakes, volcanos, landslides and climate change.

With a geology degree, you can find a job in energy, mining, environmental consulting, government research and regulation. And, you’ll likely find yourself spending part of your workday outdoors – in swamps, mountains, forests, desert plains and out at sea.
