The Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences program at the University of Mississippi fosters the knowledge and skills needed in today's health care environment. Chemistry investigates the composition, properties, and reactions of all substances. Called “the central science” because it is at the heart of many other scientific endeavors, many advances in the production of medicine, food, technology, and energy have been made possible through chemistry research. Because chemistry is a physical science, chemistry students are expected to have the math background needed to develop strong problem-solving skills.

The B.S. in chemistry provides a rigorous foundation in the principal areas of basic chemistry. This program is designed for students who intend to pursue advanced studies leading to the M.S. or Ph.D. degrees in the chemical or biochemical sciences, or who wish to obtain employment as entry-level professional chemists in industrial or government laboratories.

Learn to identify opportunities, become innovative problem solvers, create and develop programs to support customer service, and build new projects inside or outside the traditional corporate setting within the Ole Miss entrepreneurship program.

The Master of Criminal Justice (M.C.J.) promotes evidence-based policy and practice and prepares future leaders in the fields of criminal justice, emergency management, and homeland security by conducting relevant, innovative research and offering cutting-edge courses.

The Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and Nutrition program at the University of Mississippi provides a solid foundation in food science and preparation as it relates to human health and well-being. The program in dietetics and nutrition provides an academic path for students to enter careers or advanced programs in dietetics and nutrition.

The Master of Music is an advanced professional degree designed to develop a particular area in music to a high level of specialization. The university offers the M.M. with the following emphases:

• Performance in woodwind, brass, string, or percussion instruments, piano, and voice;
• Music education;
• Choral conducting;
• Musicology;
• Music theory;
• Ethnomusicology;
• Collaborative piano.

Emphasis - Music Performance
The M.M. degree with an emphasis in performance is designed to prepare a student to become a professional musician (performing as a pianist, woodwind, brass, string, or percussion instrumentalist, or vocalist) and/or prepares him/her for further graduate study or professional training. The performance emphasis can be completed with a concentration (option) in either piano, vocal, or instrumental.

A Bachelor of Science in Geology allows students to study the composition and structure of the earth, earth history (environments and life), natural hazards (earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanism, etc), mineral and energy extraction, surface and groundwater, ocean processes, and more.

Study the earth, the materials of which it is made, their structure and the processes acting upon them

Geologists study the earth – its history, its composition and processes, as well as potential hazards such as earthquakes, volcanos, landslides and climate change.

With a geology degree, you can find a job in energy, mining, environmental consulting, government research and regulation. And, you’ll likely find yourself spending part of your workday outdoors – in swamps, mountains, forests, desert plains and out at sea.

Marketing students learn how to research target audiences, advise on how to develop products for consumer desires, and determine product pricing structure. Students learn to select effective channels to communicate with customers and develop and implement promotional strategies.

Marketing is a creative, fast-paced industry. Our faculty will help you get inside the mind of prospective customers so you’ll know how to promote, develop, and sell products to them. Remember, without a plan, there is no sale!

Emphasis - Sales
The sales emphasis is designed to help prepare marketing students for careers in professional sales, primarily for business-to-business products and services. The coursework includes a study of influence and persuasion, salesforce management, client negotiations, account management, and business development.

The B.B.A. in Economics is for students who wish to enter the corporate world directly upon graduation. Students use mathematical and statistical models to analyze issues such as tax structure, deregulation, public welfare spending, mergers, acquisitions, and employee compensation programs.

With a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, you will be ready to enter the corporate world or government right after graduation. Not only will you emerge with an understanding of the field itself, you’ll gain skills in statistics, mathematics, organization, research methodology, and verbal and written communication.

What will you learn?
Economics is an amazing social science, providing insight for business, public policy and human behavior in general. It underlies successful business practices and effective government policy.

You will study how markets work to determine what is produced, how it’s produced, and how income is distributed. You’ll delve into the role and impact of international trade, the effect of monopoly on the economy, and the problems of unemployment and inflation.
