The Department of Mathematics offers a B.S. in mathematics for students who wish to pursue graduate training in mathematics or to undertake careers in mathematically oriented professions. The B.S. degree allows the freedom to pursue mathematical depth in areas such as pure mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, discrete mathematics, mathematics and computer science, or finance and actuarial science.

The B.A. in biochemistry is designed for students who intend to pursue a career in medicine, dentistry, or other health-related fields. The curriculum associated with this degree program closely follows the recommendations of the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB), and it prepares students to take the MCAT and DAT.

The B.A. in psychology prepares students for careers in which a fuller understanding of human behavior is needed or to enter graduate programs in psychology and professional schools such as law and medicine. Students learn the scientific approach to the study of human and animal behavior, and can take courses in a variety of subfields, such as social, cognitive, personality, abnormal, developmental, and behavioral neuroscience. Students also learn the research process: experimental design, data collection, analysis, and interpretation.

The M.A. in Southern studies is an intense, interdisciplinary course of study touching on all facets of Southern life, history, and culture. The program is the only one of its kind in the country, and students can study an array of Southern topics and issues, from Faulkner to the blues, from the Civil War to the civil rights movement, from folk art to fundamentalism.

The M.S. in engineering science is offered in a number of emphasis areas: aeroacoustics, chemical engineering, civil engineering, computational hydroscience, computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, electromagnetics, environmental engineering, geology, geological engineering, hydrology, mechanical engineering, material science and engineering, and telecommunications.

Emphasis - Telecommunications
An M.S. in engineering science with emphasis in telecommunications prepares a student with advanced technical knowledge and communication skills for pursuing a career in industry, engineering research and development, public service, or for doctoral work.

Philosophy majors consider the questions at the core of human experience - the nature of reality, the extent of human knowledge, the basis of moral and ethical thought and behavior, the resolution of conflict, and the origin of belief. Students may also choose an optional emphasis in religious studies.

Philosophy is the study of the fundamental ideas underlying every dimension of human life. A major in philosophy helps one to think clearly, communicate persuasively, engage in moral reasoning, and formulate a coherent approach to life. Typically, philosophy majors go on to graduate school, law school, medical school, theological studies, or careers in business.

The M.B.A. exposes students to a variety of subjects, including statistics, economics, organizational behavior, business communication, marketing, financial strategy, operations management, and information technology management.

The Bachelor of Arts in Sport and Recreation Administration degree program is designed to develop skills preparatory to leadership and supervisory roles in a variety of sport and leisure service careers, including municipal, outdoor, therapeutic, military, church, youth, commercial/tourism, and industrial agencies and organizations..

Improve the health and quality of life while gaining an understanding of the business and administration of sport and recreation

The Bachelor of Arts in Sport and Recreation Administration degree program prepares students for leadership, direct service, and even supervisory roles in sport franchises, sport tourism, community recreation agencies, or college recreation departments.

The B.B.A. in Economics is for students who wish to enter the corporate world directly upon graduation. Students use mathematical and statistical models to analyze issues such as tax structure, deregulation, public welfare spending, mergers, acquisitions, and employee compensation programs.

With a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, you will be ready to enter the corporate world or government right after graduation. Not only will you emerge with an understanding of the field itself, you’ll gain skills in statistics, mathematics, organization, research methodology, and verbal and written communication.
