Overview
As a geography major, you will take courses in computer cartography, GIS and air photo interpretation/remote sensing. You will also have ample opportunities to study the Earth’s physical features and processes and how this physical environment is modified by human activities. Students may choose to take courses that include the real-world collection, analysis, interpretation and presentation of geographic data to prepare you for careers in geography.
Geography undergraduate students may choose one of four tracks to focus on: physical/environmental geography, human/economic geography, geographic information science and general geography.

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.

Undergraduate Extended Accelerator Pathway (3-Term) - Bachelor of Science in Geological Sciences
As a geological sciences major, laboratory experience and field-based activities will enhance the vibrant and friendly academic environment. You will focus on the study of the Earth's dynamics and history, as well as its composition and the chemical, physical and biological changes that it undergoes. You can also choose to pursue a concentration in environmental geosciences.
The department offers a broad range of specialties within geosciences such as sedimentology, stratigraphy and basin evolution; tectonics and structural geology; environmental geology and hydrogeology; igneous and metamorphic petrology; geophysics and seismology; oceanography, coastal and estuarine processes; paleoecology; and paleoclimatology.
You will also have the unique opportunity to complete a four-week field course in Colorado to get valuable hands-on experience. This opportunity synergizes your education in geology to understanding the Earth's formation in an observational setting.

Undergraduate Academic Accelerator Pathway (2-Term) - Bachelor of Arts in Musical Theatre
The University of South Carolina School of Music has established a national reputation for artistic and scholarly excellence. One of the school's newest offerings is a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a concentration in musical theatre, designed specifically for students interested in pursuing an outstanding liberal arts music degree with a specific focus on musical theatre.
Music students at South Carolina develop close working relationships with dedicated, world-class faculty members and have opportunities for collaborative learning and performing, in-depth research and travel.
At the School of Music, students benefit from our rich musical resources, including two advanced computer music studios, our extensive music library collection and our state-of-the-art recording studio. Students are encouraged to take advantage of the diverse resources throughout the university and to collaborate with artists in other fields.
As part of the process of building well-informed, flexible artists for the ever-changing industry, the musical theatre concentration immerses students in multiple performance opportunities each semester, involving both cutting-edge contemporary and classic genres of musical theatre. In lieu of a cognate or minor, students will complete 18 credit hours of dance and theatre courses, as well as Musical Theatre Workshop each semester. Students will participate in exciting offerings each year, including guest master classes with musical theatre professionals, collaborations with organizations and fully staged showcase performances each semester.

Visual communicators tell stories. With a major in visual communications, you can learn to tell stories through photography, video, illustration, print publications or electronic design. Our core courses teach you the basics, and as you discover your talents, you choose the electives and out-of-classroom experiences that match your interests.
As a visual communications major, you will use the latest technology in a series of courses that emphasize multimedia production and writing. Later, you can apply your knowledge in an internship with an ad agency, public relations firm, newspaper or magazine, hone your skills and gain valuable hands-on experience in your visual communications specialty. The M.S. degree is an academic research degree, which may be tailored to individual interests and job market needs. This degree requires a minimum of 36 graduate hours and combines real-world problem solving and research skills with other technical, health and related skills to prepare effective environmental health researchers for the public and private sectors. M.S. program graduates are often employed within federal, state and local public health and environmental protection agencies, federal and state research laboratories, contract research laboratories, industry, consulting firms and universities. The exercise science program prepares students for entry into a wide range of health-related, post-baccalaureate graduate and professional programs. The program features three areas of emphasis: health fitness, motor development and scientific foundations.
Exercise science majors will have unique hands-on opportunities, including involvement in clinical and community programs that provide exercise-related services to children, teens, young adults and adults.
