The Department of Biological Sciences' program of studies is flexible enough to enable you to pursue careers in molecular and cellular biology, botany, microbiology, physiology or zoology as graduate students. Some students pursue jobs in biotechnology, education, marketing and sales, among other fields. Programs in the department also prepare students for professional fields such as dentistry, medicine, pharmacy, medical technology, nursing or physical therapy.

Education in mathematics assists students in developing, to their fullest potential, their mathematical reasoning, communication and problem solving skills. Students who choose to major in mathematics are provided opportunities to develop strong problem solving skills that use quantitative methods and appropriate technology. They understand the strengths, limitations and wide applicability of mathematical modeling in a variety of disciplines. Students develop an appreciation for the discipline and esthetics of mathematics, effectiveness in problem solving, and an appropriate understanding of theory.

Chemistry also serves as a foundation not only to industrial careers, but also to careers in the health sciences. The BS Biochemistry program follows national guidelines and is aligned with pre-requisites for professional schools. In order to earn the bachelor of science degree with a major in chemistry, students must complete a minimum of 120 units with a Pacific cumulative and major/program grade point average of 2.0.

Pacific's Master of Science in Finance program offers the perfect blend of finance theory and application. With a $3.5 million student-run investment fund, our STEM-designated program offers students the unique opportunity to manage a large equity portfolio using state of the art tools of the industry. In just one year, our program prepares students for the CFA certification and is offered in-person and online simultaneously using a hyflex modality providing flexibility for working professionals.

The Master of Science in Engineering Science (MSES) program is designed to strengthen students' technical, analytical, and professional breadth and depth. All students receiving an MSES degree will complete a set of core courses that covers the broader subjects of research and analysis. Students are allowed admission to the MSES program after completing their bachelor's degree. Traditional MSES students may qualify for a graduate assistantship, which provides tuition and a living stipend.

The field of Civil Engineering has long been known for its breadth and ability to adapt to the new technological needs of society, while the modern responsibility of the field is to manage the natural and built environment.The University of the Pacific prepares students for careers with public agencies or private industry and firms involved in planning, design, research and development, or regulation.

The Department of English is an active and thriving community, where students meet respected professionals who are using their own English degrees in innovative and exciting ways, and gain hands-on publishing experience by working on Pacific's nationally-recognized, award-winning literary magazine, Calliope. Our students graduate with real-world skills and a passion for literature and knowledge that give them a unique perspective on the world around them as they step into their futures.

Computer science majors are part of a constantly evolving field that has virtually unlimited growth. From programming technology for major companies to creating video games that are played by millions, computer scientists build and maintain complex technological systems used throughout society.

Pacific’s computer science program offers three concentrations, which define a focused set of upper-division elective courses:

• Graphics and simulation
• Networking and computer security
• Software development.

All three concentrations are built upon a foundation of math, science and engineering that prepares students to be successful and adaptable as new technologies emerge.
