In this program, we aim to develop your skills and aesthetic understanding in an artistic discipline. Students are required to take courses that blend studio practice with references to art history and theory. You have the chance to work closely with teachers who are committed to creative work in their own field and encourage students to follow the same path. The program encourages you to strive for the creation of a significant body of art work representing very high levels of achievement.

This selective program emphasizing studio art includes several phases of professional competence in the department with the possible inclusion of other disciplines outside the department when necessary.

Meteorologists study the atmosphere and its physical and chemical characteristics and processes, weather patterns and climate. We offer specialized study in different subsections of meteorology, atmospheric and cloud physics, climatology, instruments and air pollution.

Participate in our pioneering Storm Chasers summer program where you'll forecast, pursue and observe extreme weather through the Great Plains states. Join the campus chapter of the American Meteorological Society and attend meetings of the professional AMS with your professors. Get on-air experience as a future TV meteorologist at WTOP, our on-campus television station. Find ample chances to present your own research. Our program and alumni success opens up internship opportunities in such places as the National Weather Service, government agencies, private-sector meteorological firms and television stations.

You’ll have abundant opportunities to engage in hands-on research with faculty through the Lake-Effect Storm Prediction and Research Center. Our observation equipment constantly monitors changes in local weather, with a constant online stream of the latest observational and forecast data. A mesoscale model also provides local forecast data. Interactive graphical interfaces along with specialized graphics provide state-of-the-art visualization for meteorological data. Meteorology lab spaces in the Shineman Center offer hands-on opportunities with advanced tools like our wind tunnel and weather balloon system.

This major prepares you for the growing importance of analyzing and understanding data and statistics. You can choose the bachelor of arts in mathematics to focus more on theory, or the bachelor of science in applied mathematics to examine practical applications in science and operations research. Small classes provide you with individual attention from professors who actively involve you in the learning process.

With the department’s approval, enter the honors program in mathematics, where you’ll have the opportunity to pursue advanced topics and work with faculty one-on-one. For an even greater challenge, work on an independent study. Add to your resume with internships and co-op opportunities.

The professional experience of award-winning faculty will add a practical perspective to your study. Our pass rates on the Certified Public Accountant examination reflect well on our students and dedicated professors, some of whom teach in commercial review courses for the exam.

Through courses on marketing principles, consumer behavior, marketing research and advertising and promotion, the program introduces concepts and tools employed by successful professionals. It also emphasizes team-oriented projects that enable you to apply various principles of marketing management to actual business problems.

Participate in governing of SUNY Oswego chapter of the American Marketing Association. You’ll discover new approaches in marketing — such as e-marketing, social marketing, the role of media in integrated marketing communications and branding — through classroom discussions, case simulations and class activities. Learn from hands-on opportunities available through internships and co-op programs.

You can choose to study and investigate a number of specialization areas including cellular and molecular, organismal and systematic, genetic and developmental, or environmental and population biology. After introductory core courses, students and professors work together to design a program of additional courses to fit your professional career interests. Careful selection of electives, research courses, projects and internships can prepare you for particular careers, graduate studies and/or training at professional schools (medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine).

Top-notch facilities in the Shineman Center and Rice Creek Field Station with helpful and knowledgeable professors will provide you with great preparation and research opportunities. Active student organizations provide on-campus connections while a successful network of graduates can help you find internships during college as well as opportunities after graduation. We also offer an honors program in the major for exceptional students.

With their ability to think critically, communicate effectively and solve complex problems with creativity and independent judgment, biology majors make great employees in any field. Majors discover new knowledge to better understand themselves, the world and their place in it, whether working in science or using your knowledge to make informed decisions that impact society.

In addition to beginning, intermediate and advanced language courses, we offer courses in literature, both in French and in English translation. The literature courses cover major authors and periods as well as specific genre courses, including poetry, theater and film.

A semester- or year-long study program in Paris or Nice enables you to experience French life and culture on a daily basis and enhance fluency in the language. Several students have chosen to study for a semester or summer in Quebec. Students and faculty participate in the French Club and organize film series and other programs that explore the multicultural diversity of Francophonia as well as occasional trips to the province of Quebec. Practice your language skills at the weekly international coffee hour, and in the friendly department’s foyer. The department also sponsors a chapter of Pi Delta Phi, the National French Honor Society. Several students have gone on to prestigious Teaching Assistant Program in France positions.

Our interdisciplinary degree integrates concepts and methods from computer science, graphic design and the social sciences. Drawing upon these concepts and methods, you will learn user-centered design approaches as you create information and communication technologies such as websites, mobile apps, computer games and software design.

Choose between two tracks designed to focus solely on HCI influences or a professional track infused with business courses.

Our public relations program incorporates public opinion research, persuasive writing, graphics, working with the media and ethical responsibility, while examining public relations strategies and techniques through case study.

Our faculty members provide practitioner and theorist perspectives, while the program teaches students how to create and implement strategic public relations programs and offer everyday counsel to management. We emphasize writing, critical thinking and interpersonal skills while strongly recommending internships.

You can join our active chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America, which coordinates networking events, speakers and hands-on projects to help Oswego students gain connections and experience. Take advantage of a wide selection of on-campus and community involvement and internship opportunities.

Our program provides a foundation in the principles of geology and its related sciences with four laboratories, a seismograph and field experiences. A newer track on environmental earth sciences integrates a set of cross-disciplinary environmental science experiences from biological sciences, chemistry, meteorology and physics.

Oswego is ideally located for field studies of Lake Ontario, carbonate and clastic sedimentary rocks of the Lower Paleozoic age, Precambrian rocks of the Adirondacks, Pleistocene glacial features and the pollution of rivers and ground waters. Field trips may include southeastern Pennsylvania, the Chesapeake Bay, Ithaca, Whitaker State Park, and the Catskill Mountains.

Build your resume through internships and co-op opportunities, and complete an independent research project under the direction of a faculty adviser.
