The Environmental Science major combines laboratory and field work, internships and classroom study. This program is for students interested in a variety of fields including water resources and air quality, wildlife management and biodiversity conservation, and environmental toxicology and chemistry. The coursework includes basic and applied science. Available courses include:

The Communication major is a broad study of the process of human communication. Students will learn the importance of communication context in culture, professional fields and social movements. Coursework also includes study of the influence of communication on behavior and in turn, its influence on society. There are four tracks that students may choose from in the Communication major:

• Corporate Communication
• Rhetoric and Public Discourse
• Generalist
• Honors

Unique opportunities for Communication students include Lambda Pi Eta, the communication studies honor society as well as study abroad options including Baylor in London and Baylor in New York.

Sociology
Sociology is the science that studies the social relationships of people. Coursework includes the study of a wide range of human behaviors from individual development, to relational growth, social institutions including groups, organizations, cultures and social structures. Journalism
The Department of Journalism, Public Relations and New Media educates students in writing, editing, photography and public relations for written and graphic communication. There are three sequences (tracks) available. Each sequence maintains the same required Journalism Core and highlights different areas within the field of journalism.

The News-Editorial sequence focuses on developing reporting, writing and editing skills. The Public Relations sequence emphasizes the importance of branding and public image. The New Media sequence includes both advertising skills (copywriting, research design and media planning) and photojournalism that focuses more on the visual components of journalism. The Management Information Systems (MIS) major is designated as a pre-major.  This major prepares students to become information systems professionals and integrate IT solutions with business processes. The goal is to enable businesses to meet their objectives in an effective, efficient way.  Available courses include:

Education - Elementary Education
The Elementary Education program is ideal for individuals who are passionate about making a difference through teaching young children and want to become change agents in education. The program prepares highly qualified teachers for work in diverse school settings in Early Childhood through Grade Six. Graduates of the Elementary program earn a Bachelor of Science in Education (B.S. Ed.) and prepare for the Elementary Generalist certification. Supplemental certification may be added in English as a Second Language or Gifted and Talented Education or Special Education.

Education - Secondary English, Language Arts, and Reading
The Secondary Education program prepares students to work in grades 7-12. Graduates of the Secondary Education program earn a Bachelor of Science in Education (B.S. Ed.) with certification in one subject area (listed below). Supplemental certification may be added in English as a Second Language.

The Special Education major prepares candidates to teach students to teach students with exceptional learning needs, from early childhood through 12th grade. Field experiences focus on students with varying levels of disability, ranging from mild to severe. The Special Education major offers two different undergraduate certificate options.

The first is an All-Level Special Education degree plan which prepares participants to only teach students with exceptional learning needs. These students range from early childhood through 12th grade.

The Special Education Supplemental plan prepares participants to teach general education to students ranging from early childhood through sixth grade. The second plan also prepares participants to teach students with exceptional learning needs. These students spend the majority of the school day in a general classroom.

The German major enables students to become fluent in written and spoken German. German is spoken throughout all Europe. Knowing German can enhance your career opportunities, especially in the areas of international business, foreign service, international transportation, communication and finance. In addition, German is particularly useful if you plan to study theology, music, psychology, philosophy, history or any of the natural sciences. Available courses include:
