The International Year program is designed especially for international students. It is the first year of study at Baylor University, where students study a combination of English language courses and credit-bearing academic courses. Music
The music major is for serious musicians who are resolute about pursuing new frontiers and not afraid to challenge musical conventions. The major is in the liberal arts tradition.  It is a good fit for students who want a music degree, but also want to take extra courses outside their major course of study. Students develop their skills through theory and practice.  Areas of study include:

• Music Theory
• Music History and Literature
• Applied Music
• Conducting

This degree allows students to develop the extraordinary skills necessary to fulfill their professional pursuits. In this degree, students may pursue studies that emphasize either performance or academic subjects in music.

The Russian language is used throughout the world and is one of the five official languages of the United Nations. As such, a Russian major is beneficial for those wishing to work in international affairs. The major includes studying the Russian language, culture and history. Students become fluent in written and spoken Russian. Available courses include:

Russian is also available as a minor or secondary major for those pursuing a different field of study. Graduates with Russian degrees often pursue graduate school, teach, or work for international corporations.

The Apparel Design & Product Development curriculum develops students into professionals that will be successful in both the domestic and international marketplace. Fashion design is the development of apparel, textile and consumer products that meet the needs of specific consumer markets. Students develop an understanding of these needs through the study of consumer behavior, demographics and psychographics. Apparel Design courses are both creative and high technical. Courses include:

Communication
The Communication major is a broad study of the process of human communication. Students will learn the importance of communication context in culture, professional fields and social movements. Coursework also includes study of the influence of communication on behavior and in turn, its influence on society. There are four tracks that students may choose from in the Communication major:

Students major in communication as preparation for careers in business, law, education and ministry, among others. Unique opportunities for Communication students include Lambda Pi Eta, the communication studies honor society as well as study abroad options including Baylor in London and Baylor in New York.

Choral Music
The Choral Music major in the Bachelor of Music Education degree program is designed for students interested in teaching choral music or elementary general music in public schools. This degree leads to Texas teacher certification. Areas of study include:

The Asian Studies program provides opportunities for study and research of the diverse societies that inhabit the Asian continent. The program takes as its geographical focus the regions of Eurasia and the Asia-Pacific. Interdisciplinary in approach, the program spans the fields of economics, foreign languages, history, political science, sociology and religion, and is dedicated to providing opportunities for foreign study and field experiences.

Through its major, minor and concentration curricula, the Asian Studies program is designed to provide students with a solid foundation to pursue careers in government services, business, and nongovernmental organizations, as well as for further graduate study.

The B.A. degree in Earth Science covers a broad spectrum of topics and is designed to give the Earth science major an understanding of the Earth's materials and processes. The Risk Management and Insurance major (designated as a pre-major) focuses on identifying financial and economic characteristics of risks to which firms and individuals are exposed and developing effective strategies for managing such risks. Available courses include:

The Psychology major is available either as a Bachelor of Arts degree or as a Bachelor of Science degree. The Bachelor of Arts degree plan emphasizes the study of humanities in Psychology, while the Bachelor of Science degree plan has a greater emphasis in science and mathematics.
