The Human Resource Management major (designated as a pre-major) is a comprehensive study of the way people work in a business. The study includes the hiring process, employee training, conflict resolution and career planning. The program's goal is to train students to be competent human resource specialists who work strategically with organizations to recruit the right talent, motivate them with compensation and make them even more valuable through training and development. The curriculum fully aligns with the standards set by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). Available courses include:

The Great Texts major is one of two undergraduate majors within the Baylor University Honors College, but it is not required that you be part of Honors to major in Great Texts. The coursework includes the study of influential written works from a variety of cultures throughout the ages. Available courses include:

• Medieval Intellectual Tradition
• Confessions and Autobiography
• Theological Interpretation of Scripture
• Great Texts of the 20th Century
• Masterworks in Drama

The Great Texts program offers an integrated humanities education that crosses the customary academic divisions between what we know, what we love and how we live together. These studies are intensely practical because questions in real life often concern the connections between knowledge, ethical discernment and imaginative enjoyment.  Many graduates pursue graduate, law and medical school. Graduates can also expect to find career opportunities in international business or at academic institutions.

The music major is for serious musicians who are resolute about pursuing new frontiers and not afraid to challenge musical conventions. The major is in the liberal arts tradition.  It is a good fit for students who want a music degree, but also want to take extra courses outside their major course of study. Students develop their skills through theory and practice.  Areas of study include:

This degree allows students to develop the extraordinary skills necessary to fulfill their professional pursuits. In this degree, students may pursue studies that emphasize either performance or academic subjects in music.

Religion
The Religion major at Baylor is a combination of Biblical, historical and theological studies. Students also study cultural differences in religion around the world and are given the opportunity to select one of five concentrations.  These concentrations include Bible, Theology and Ethics, History, Practical Studies or World Religions. Apparel Design and Product Development
The Apparel Design & Product Development curriculum develops students into professionals that will be successful in both the domestic and international marketplace. Fashion design is the development of apparel, textile and consumer products that meet the needs of specific consumer markets. Students develop an understanding of these needs through the study of consumer behavior, demographics and psychographics. Apparel Design courses are both creative and high technical. Courses include:

Computer Science
The department of Computer Science offers a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) as well as a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in computer science. One of the strengths of the computer science program is the balance between theory and practice. Students are well versed in theory and programming while at the same time being exposed to real world situations thereby gaining valuable experience. Available courses include:

Students graduating with a BSCS in Computer Science are schooled in upper-level computer science topics with a solid foundation in mathematics and the sciences. Within the BSCS degree, students select a general computer science or software engineering track. The software engineering track emphasizes the methods used to produce and maintain high-quality software in a systematic, controlled and efficient manner. Students who are acquiring their BA in computer science acquire a traditional liberal arts education with a solid set of core computer science courses.

The B.A. degree in Earth Science covers a broad spectrum of topics and is designed to give the Earth science major an understanding of the Earth's materials and processes. Topical areas in the Earth science curriculum encompass astronomy, meteorology, oceanography, as well as geology. Available courses include:

• Rocks and Rock-Forming Minerals

The Earth Science major can be combined with a major in Environmental Studies for students interested in the impact humanity has on the natural environment. Graduates can expect to find career opportunities in a number of areas, including oil or energy, environmental consulting, state water control, the Environmental Protection Agency and many others.

The Theory major in the School of Music is for students who wish to concentrate their study on the theory of music. Students will conduct research under mentors, faculty members who are active in academic discourse on the national and international level.  Areas of study include:

International Studies is an interdisciplinary major administered by the Department of Political Science. Students learn about the social, political and economic issues confronting the international environment as well as regions of the world. The major includes extensive studies in a language of the student's choosing. Available courses include:

Child and Family Studies
The Child and Family Studies (CFS) program at Baylor University focuses on the development of individuals and families as they grow and change. Students in this major study the dynamics of the life span (prenatal through late adulthood). This program offers four concentrations specializing in a content area, including:

• Pre-Occupational Therapy

The program is designed to prepare students for a variety of careers opportunities in hospitals, clinics, adoption agencies, youth ministries, family planning centers, social services, youth correctional facilities or as teachers. It also offers the opportunity to pursue certification as either a Child Life Specialist or a Certified Family Life Educator. No matter what career path is chosen, students will become professionals who practice critical thinking, self-reflection and scientific inquiry.
