In the Bachelor of Arts (BA) and the Bachelor of Science (BS) in Psychology programs, you’ll learn psychological theories and research methodologies, as well as gain an understanding of both scientific and applied psychology. As you work towards your bachelors’ degree in Psychology, you’ll design and conduct psychological research studies and learn how to read and analyze scientific data.

Your bachelors’ degree in Psychology coursework focuses on theories, experimental and statistical work, and laboratory and fieldwork, allowing you to gain hands-on research experience. You’ll have the opportunity to work with faculty members on research projects, as well as develop and conduct your own research projects through our independent study program.

Psychology (BA) program

The Psychology Department also offers two internship programs, placing you in human service organizations, community and industrial settings.

DePaul offers a combined bachelor’s + master’s degree program in Industrial-Organizational Psychology and a combined bachelor’s + master’s degree program in Psychology and Secondary Education Social Sciences. These programs allow you to complete a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a graduate degree in as few as five years.

Study communication in the context of popular culture, the corporate world, interpersonal relationships and new media with a master’s degree in Communication and Media. Develop diverse areas of interest while focusing on a specific content area with an optional concentration in Interpersonal Communication, Media and Cinema Studies, Multicultural Communication or Organizational Communication. You’ll master the tools and frameworks to critically examine and resolve real-life communication issues.

Multicultural Communication
The Multicultural Communication concentration focuses on the dynamics of communication across cultures. It explores not only what happens when people of two different cultures meet, but also what happens when people from a variety of cultures and ethnicities come together in one organization, community or country.

This concentration will be of interest to those who work with international and multiethnic corporations and to public service personnel serving individuals from a variety of backgrounds and cultural traditions.

DePaul’s master’s in International Public Service (IPS) is designed for students interested in the field of international development and global humanitarian affairs. You’ll gain the skills and expertise to manage, lead and evaluate international projects and organizations.

The Theatre School’s Master of Fine Arts (MFA) Acting program is highly truthful, expressive, and physical. Informed by our Chicago roots, we prepare actors to work on stage and screen all over the world.

Students learn from a distinguished faculty of working professionals who possess a wide variety of backgrounds and expertise. Our faculty have developed a powerful curricula that mine a diversity of ideas from Stanislavski, Spolin, Grotowski, Shurtleff, Lessac, Linklater, Yoga, Tai Chi, Feldenkrais® Method, Laban, mask work, and more. Students are inspired through unique points-of-view within a comprehensive progression of acting, movement, and voice and speech curricula.

Our Management degree program will provide you with an overview of business operations, including techniques to strategically align the human, technology and financial assets of a firm. As a business management major, you’ll become prepared for a career in a variety of service-delivery, manufacturing, consulting, non-profit and digital business environments.

Choose from one of six concentrations — general management, entrepreneurship, human resources, leadership and change management, operations management, or sports management. The courses you take will be tailored to the concentration you choose.

Business management majors here will benefit from programs and networking events at DePaul’s Coleman Entrepreneurship Center and Center for Innovation, as well as DePaul’s presence in Chicago’s 1871 business incubator.

The Secondary Education program prepares you to teach 9th through 12th grade in a variety of urban and suburban education settings, including public and private high schools. You can graduate with a State of Illinois license to teach designated subject-area content (listed below). The program also provides you an opportunity to receive a Diploma Year Program Award (IB certification) to teach in International Baccalaureate schools world-wide.

As part of the secondary education major, you’ll learn educational theories and effective teaching practices, including how to design and implement curriculum; participate in extensive field experiences at multiple schools, and student-teach for 10 weeks.

The master's in Software Engineering provides students with skills that are widely applicable, highly in demand, and richly rewarded. Software engineering is a discipline concerned with the processes, methodologies, techniques, and tools of developing high-quality software systems in a cost-effective manner. The Software Engineering program emphasizes the best software engineering practices, current methodologies, emerging technologies, and their applications in various industries. It also emphasizes the development of communication and presentation skills in a team-based software development environment. The curriculum encompasses all important aspects of software engineering, including: requirements engineering, software architecture and design, software construction, software testing and quality assurance, software maintenance, and software project management.

Software Development
This concentration addresses the foundations, methodologies, and tools for developing high quality large-scale software systems, with an emphasis on the technical issues of software development. Students in this concentration will gain technical expertise and experiences to become competent and successful members of software development teams in a wide range of development environments and application domains.

The Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Science (BS) in Chemistry program will provide you with the fundamentals of chemical theory and practice through scientific investigation, laboratory experience and research opportunities.

As a chemistry major will have multiple opportunities to gain hands-on research experience working with chemistry faculty members conducting research projects funded through government, foundation and industry grants. Being in Chicago also allows those pursuing a BA or BS in Chemistry to attend many scientific conferences hosted in the city throughout the year.

In addition to a variety of combined degree programs, we offer a combined bachelor’s + master’s degree in Chemistry and Secondary Education Chemistry, allowing you to complete a bachelor’s and a graduate degree in as few as five years.

In the Master of Marketing Analysis program, you’ll take a quantitative approach to real-world marketing challenges in preparation for a career in business and marketing analytics, market research, interactive marketing, or other data-driven marketing roles. You’ll develop strong foundational knowledge in

• Customer and market analysis
• Detecting trends and business opportunities
• The latest marketing analytics tools
• Decision-making strategies
• Crafting marketing strategies based on data collection and interpretation

As an Astrophysics major, you’ll study the formation of the universe and the behavior and life cycles of stars, planets and galaxies. You’ll focus on scientific investigation, laboratory experience and research opportunities to give you hands-on experience in the field of astrophysics.

You’ll start by taking core courses that align with the standard Physics major. The program is designed with flexibility so that you can focus on instrumentation, observational data analysis, or theoretical/computational work by choosing appropriate elective courses.
