DePaul’s Master of Public Service Management (MPS) is designed to teach you broad-based management skills that lead to careers across many sectors, including nonprofit, governmental agencies, higher education and health care.

You’ll choose a concentration in one of the following areas:

• Emergency Management

• Higher Education Administration
• Metropolitan Planning and Urban Affairs

Higher Education Administration Concentration
For managers in post-secondary institutions of learning, this concentration teaches necessary analytical and managerial skills. The coursework helps students develop an understanding of management principles, policy analysis, and research within higher education. Electives provide opportunities to explore leadership, governance, strategic planning, budgeting, finance, law, diversity, enrollment management, marketing, student affairs, and politics in higher education.

Our sociology degree program will help you develop the critical thinking skills needed to effectively observe sociological topics and become equipped to conduct sociological research.

As you work toward your Sociology degree, you’ll take advantage of exploring Chicago—a laboratory for research and observation with its ethnic communities, economic development and urban issues, giving you the opportunity to access Chicago’s rich and diverse culture through service opportunities, field experience and internships.

We offer combined bachelor’s + master’s degree programs including a combined bachelor’s in Sociology and a master’s in Secondary Education Social Sciences degree. These programs allow you to complete a bachelor’s degree and a graduate degree in as few as five years.

In the Management Information Systems (MIS) program, you’ll learn both the business and technological foundations of information systems management. DePaul’s undergraduate MIS degree program will prepare you to pursue a variety of careers requiring both business and technological skills.

As you earn your MIS degree, you will

• Acquire a broad understanding of information technologies and the information systems life cycle as they apply to business processes
• Gain the ability to identify organizational data
• design and manipulate databases
• Integrate technical knowledge with an understanding of business operations

The Master of Public Health (MPH) program provides a collaborative, applied approach to public health education, focusing on health promotion and disease prevention to vulnerable populations. Gain the knowledge and practical skills to become an effective public health leader and solve problems to reduce health disparities. Choose from one of two concentrations:

• Community health practice: Assess a community’s health needs and design, implement and evaluate interventions that address those needs.
• Social epidemiology: Use biostatistics and epidemiology to inform research, policy and intervention efforts aimed at eliminating health inequalities.

The MA in Biological Sciences prepares you to communicate your knowledge of life and living systems to others. Graduates of the MA typically plan to pursue advanced education degrees or teaching positions. With a Biological Sciences MA, you will

• Learn to be an independent thinker and researcher
• Develop laboratory skills and methodologies
• Develop your own concentration in partnership with an advisor

Classes take place on the Lincoln Park Campus and are typically held in the daytime.

DePaul's graduate Computer Science program is the premier training ground for computing professionals in the Chicago area. Unlike a certificate program, our master's courses focus on fundamental concepts that remain constant, even as technology changes rapidly. Unlike more research focused institutions, however, our courses emphasize the programmatic application of these fundamental concepts. Students interested in research will find an abundance of advanced topics—medical imaging, data mining, algorithmic analysis, and scientific computing, to name a few.

The Master of Social Work (MSW) program will prepare you for advanced social work, with attention to professional ethics, respect for human rights and recognition of the inherent dignity of all people. The curriculum is grounded equally in theory and practical application. Choose from one of two concentrations:

• The Community Practice concentration prepares you to lead human service organizations.
• The Forensic Social Work concentration prepares you for practice and advocacy in settings where human services and the legal system intersect.

You’ll be grouped in a small cohort, which enables you to get to know your colleagues and receive individualized attention from your professors.

The Chinese Studies program focuses on developing your ability to speak Mandarin Chinese and understand Chinese society and culture. Twenty percent of the global population speaks Chinese, making it the most-spoken language in the world. Having the ability to speak and understand Chinese will make you a marketable candidate in a variety of professional fields, such as business, consulting or politics.

As a Chinese Studies major, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in one of DePaul’s Study Abroad programs in Beijing, Hong Kong or Shanghai, where you’ll experience and immerse yourself in Chinese language and culture.

Anthropology is the comparative study of humanity that focuses on people in all places throughout history. Study beliefs, values and practices of various cultures and compare similarities and differences among diverse groups. By analyzing other cultures, you will learn more about your own.

Research plays an important role in the study of anthropology and will take place both in and outside of the classroom. Gain hands-on research experience in our archeological field school and projects throughout the city of Chicago. The Bachelor of Arts in anthropology prepares you with extensive knowledge of this field, qualifying you to work in nonprofit and for-profit research settings as well as academic careers.
