Study communication in the context of popular culture, the corporate world, interpersonal relationships and new media with a master’s degree in Communication and Media. Develop diverse areas of interest while focusing on a specific content area with an optional concentration in Interpersonal Communication, Media and Cinema Studies, Multicultural Communication or Organizational Communication. You’ll master the tools and frameworks to critically examine and resolve real-life communication issues.

Multicultural Communication
The Multicultural Communication concentration focuses on the dynamics of communication across cultures. It explores not only what happens when people of two different cultures meet, but also what happens when people from a variety of cultures and ethnicities come together in one organization, community or country.

This concentration will be of interest to those who work with international and multiethnic corporations and to public service personnel serving individuals from a variety of backgrounds and cultural traditions.

Our Real Estate degree program will prepare you to work and excel in the real estate community at the local and national levels, and to adapt to future changes in the industry.

As a Real Estate major, you’ll strengthen your financial and analytical skills, including risk analysis, portfolio construction and management, cash flow analysis and investment strategy. As you work towards your degree, you’ll gain an understanding of the organizational structure of financial institutions and the impact of financial markets on real estate. You’ll also examine how historical development of real estate impacts present and future development patterns.

The data science master’s will provide you with the technical knowledge and advanced computational skills to meet emerging challenges in big data analytics. Marketing
Some courses are available online. The Marketing concentration is designed for data science master’s students who want to combine strong technical skills in analytics with competency in marketing analytics and customer relationship management. You’ll learn how to extract information from data to support business decision making and marketing decisions.

The MA in Animation degree provides a combination of artistic and technical training that prepares students for a future in 3D character animation, traditional animation, computer game art, or visual effects.

Motion Graphics
Motion Graphics, sometimes known as Motion Design, involves putting graphic forms, text, and photographic elements into motion using the principles of animation. These are almost always paired with sound and music for a specific purpose, such as in advertisements, educational and industrial videos, films and television titles, visual effects, and video games. The Secondary Education program prepares you to teach 9th through 12th grade in a variety of urban and suburban education settings, including public and private high schools. You can graduate with a State of Illinois license to teach designated subject-area content (listed below). The program also provides you an opportunity to receive a Diploma Year Program Award (IB certification) to teach in International Baccalaureate schools world-wide.

As part of the secondary education major, you’ll learn educational theories and effective teaching practices, including how to design and implement curriculum; participate in extensive field experiences at multiple schools, and student-teach for 10 weeks.

The tools and methods of Applied Mathematics are in demand wherever quantitative analysis is used for strategic decision-making. The MS in Applied Mathematics gives you the expertise you need to use those tools and methods in business, industry or government.

Actuarial Science Concentration
The Actuarial Science concentration? caters to career changers as well as students who would like to further their actuarial training. It condenses a comprehensive actuarial curriculum into just two years, with an emphasis on the theory and problem-solving skills that are key to passing actuarial exams, and the computational methods that are sought after in the job market. Most of our graduates get internships and full-time jobs as actuarial analysts in insurance companies and consulting firms.

The Master of Science in Game Programming is designed for those interested in game development programming at the highest level, including real time computing, computer graphics, and professional retooling for the game industry. Students will learn about software engineering, computer graphics, artificial intelligence, animation, software architecture, and networking. The game programming degree addresses the real-world needs of industry through special, topic-based classes. Courses are taught with a mixture of theory and applied practice. Covering both emerging trends and proven knowledge, the program's content is always relevant and current. This combination of approaches allows students to understand the connection between realized applied systems and issues they'll likely face professionally in years to come.

The World Language Education (WLE) program integrates education and language courses. Your foreign language education degree will prepare you to teach kindergarten through 12th grade in a variety of urban and suburban education settings, including public and private schools.

As part of this program, you will take language courses from the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and education courses from the College of Education. You will earn a BA from the College of Education, and concentrations are offered in Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Spanish.
