As an Astrophysics major, you’ll study the formation of the universe and the behavior and life cycles of stars, planets and galaxies. You’ll focus on scientific investigation, laboratory experience and research opportunities to give you hands-on experience in the field of astrophysics.

You’ll start by taking core courses that align with the standard Physics major. The program is designed with flexibility so that you can focus on instrumentation, observational data analysis, or theoretical/computational work by choosing appropriate elective courses.

As a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or a Bachelor Science (BS) in Biological Sciences major, you’ll gain the knowledge and skills you need to succeed in a wide range of careers in science, research, education, health and other fields.

Inside and outside the classroom, you’ll learn to think independently and work collaboratively. Here, most faculty members direct their own research programs, giving you an opportunity to work on multiple research projects. Biological Sciences majors are encouraged to attend seminars and complete internships.

If you’re interested in pursuing a career in education, the Department of Biological Sciences also partners with the College of Education to award teaching degrees.

The B.S. in Biological Sciences major offers you a structured curriculum, with more of an emphasis on science- and math-focused courses. As you gain a strong foundation of knowledge in biological science theories and practices, you'll choose one of the following concentrations:

• Medicine and health
• Microbiology and biotechnology

• Physiology

The tools and methods of Applied Mathematics are in demand wherever quantitative analysis is used for strategic decision-making. The MS in Applied Mathematics gives you the expertise you need to use those tools and methods in business, industry or government.

Mathematical Finance Concentration
The Mathematical Finance concentration is a track for mathematically-inclined students who would like to pursue a quantitative career in Finance. The coursework focuses on the theoretical foundations of Finance as well as the concrete application of financial modeling, using sophisticated tools and techniques such as stochastic differential equations, copulas and extreme value theory. Students completing this concentration will be well-equipped to work as quantitative analysts.

The History of Art and Architecture program focuses on the diverse visual traditions of different societies around the world. You will develop visual literacy by critically thinking about how art and architecture affect individuals and societies.

As an art history major, you’ll enhance your persuasive writing, research and oral communication skills and take advantage of Chicago’s extensive cultural resources. As you earn your art history degree, you’ll enrich your classroom experience though site visits to exhibits, museums, urban landscapes and architectural monuments around the city.

Through our Healthcare Markets and Analytics MBA concentration, you’ll become prepared to analyze and use health data to make managerial decisions.

Our MBA in healthcare management program teaches you to use decision-making algorithms that apply data to economic models. Your courses will focus on economics within the health care sector — an industry that accounts for more than one-fifth of the U.S. economy.

Higher Education Administration Concentration
For managers in post-secondary institutions of learning, this concentration teaches necessary analytical and managerial skills. The coursework helps students develop an understanding of management principles, policy analysis, and research within higher education. Electives provide opportunities to explore leadership, governance, strategic planning, budgeting, finance, law, diversity, enrollment management, marketing, student affairs, and politics in higher education.

In the Network Engineering and Security degree program, you will learn the theory and practice of designing, deploying and managing both wired and wireless network technologies.

As a Network Engineering major, you will gain expertise in protocols and services that enable Internet and LAN services, design and management of local and wide area networks and voice and data network convergence through VoIP technologies.

You will obtain hands-on experience by working with network devices and servers in lab facilities focused on enterprise networks, security and multimedia network services.

The master's in Health Informatics provides students with the skills and knowledge needed to implement and support information technology solutions for health sector organizations. Graduates will obtain technical knowledge and management skills for the design and support of IT systems and will develop a deep understanding of health IT processes to support health care delivery and management. Graduates will also gain knowledge in the areas of health information management including health information processing and exchange, health care analytics, enterprise management and information storage and security management.

DePaul’s MS in General Psychology will prepare you for further doctoral training or for a range of psychology-related careers, such as statistical consulting and teaching.
