The MFA in Game Design is for creative visionaries intent on producing socially, culturally, and emotionally substantial work. The degree prepares students to advance the frontier of games by exploring emerging theories and applying them to practice. The games students create throughout their degree will be challenged by peers and faculty in critiques. Graduates of the program will be equipped to define and realize their authentic, thriving professional lives. An MFA is also a terminal degree that opens opportunities to teach at the university level and enter an academic tenure-track career.

As a German major, you’ll study German and Austrian cultures (authors, musicians, literature), language and notions of German history. German is the most widely spoken first language in the European Union, and German-speaking countries are among the most influential engines driving culture, business and politics today.

Through your studies, you will learn that the German-speaking world is rich and multifaceted, including the works of Mozart, Goethe, Freud, Kafka and Marx. As a German major, you’ll explore the crucial questions of memory and history particular to the German past. You’ll become equipped with crucial skills in reading, writing, critical thinking, and intercultural communication—providing you with career opportunities around the world.

From Kant to Mann to Merkel, dive into canonical texts or explore modern German culture and language. The flexible MA in German is ideal for both those who wish to pursue careers in translation, teaching or cultural institutions and for those who are preparing for an academic career.

Gain a deeper understanding of the fundamentals that govern economic activity. In the Applied Economics MBA program, you’ll study the forces that drive markets and the economics of the decision-making processes of businesses and consumers. You’ll get to hone your problem-solving abilities and have the option of two tracks for further specialization: Applied Microeconomics & Policy Analysis and The Economic Environment.

The Master of Public Health (MPH) program provides a collaborative, applied approach to public health education, focusing on health promotion and disease prevention to vulnerable populations. Gain the knowledge and practical skills to become an effective public health leader and solve problems to reduce health disparities.

Social Epidemiology
Use biostatistics and epidemiology to inform research, policy and intervention efforts aimed at eliminating health inequalities.

The Master of Music in performance degree prepares students for professional music careers in a supportive, collegial environment.  Graduate students study with highly celebrated performers who are committed to teaching excellence.  The graduate performance program consists of applied lessons, ensembles, core studies in music theory/history and research, and related studies.  The Master of Music degree is a two year program.

As a Communication and Technology major, you’ll learn to live and work in the modern digital environment. You’ll be given a foundation of theoretical knowledge, critical analysis and ethical awareness of how processes of communication affect and are affected by technology.

Communication and Technology majors will take courses that provide you with interdisciplinary knowledge, experiences, and practical skills that link technology and communication.

The World Language Education (WLE) program integrates education and language courses. Your foreign language education degree will prepare you to teach kindergarten through 12th grade in a variety of urban and suburban education settings, including public and private schools.

As part of this program, you will take language courses from the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and education courses from the College of Education. You will earn a BA from the College of Education, and concentrations are offered in Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Spanish.

In the Peace, Justice and Conflict Studies major, you will critically examine the origins and root causes of violence and conflict, and learn strategies for resolving interpersonal, communal and international conflicts peacefully. You will master the theoretical and intellectual frameworks related to peace building, human rights advocacy and justice development by learning to interpret real life situations and applying strategies for advocacy, consensus-building, partnership development and other intervention tools.

You will complete an internship with an organization related to peace, social justice or conflict resolution.

Take advantage of DePaul’s Study Abroad programs in order to gain an international perspective on the causes of violence and conflict, as well as strategies for negotiation and resolution.

Our MS in Speech-Language Pathology program will prepare you to become a speech-language pathologist (SLP) who treats all aspects of communicative and swallowing disorders across the life span (children through adults), including the following:

• Fluency
• Receptive and expressive language
• cognitive aspects of communication (attention, memory, sequencing, problem solving, executive functioning)
• Voice and resonance ( including respiration and phonation)
• Speech sound production
• Augmentative and alternative communication
• Hearing (including the impact on speech and language)
• Swallowing
• Social aspects of communication

You’ll take classes that will focus on:

• basic science courses
• specific communication and swallowing disorders
• research methods
• clinical coursework, which includes 400 hours of supervised clinical experience

Here, you’ll gain critical thinking, problem solving and interpersonal skills you need to become an independent clinical practitioner. You’ll be trained to work in a variety of settings, including schools, hospitals, clinics and private practice.
