As an Environmental Science major you will study a broad science-based curriculum that will expose you to multiple fields of scientific study, provide you with an understanding of environmental problems and solutions and prepare you for a technical career in environmental science. Environmental Science faculty members are active researchers in soil and wetland science, restoration ecology, geology, paleontology, and conservation biology, offering environmental science majors many opportunities to gain hands-on research experience.

Gain insight into the global business environment and an international perspective on economic topics, including trade theory, international financial policy and emerging markets. With DePaul’s MBA concentration in International Business, you’ll be prepared to navigate effectively as a manager in a complex and ever-changing global business environment through a multidisciplinary curriculum.

Study the strategy, execution and valuation of real companies in real time and develop strategic analysis skills. The MBA in Strategy, Execution and Valuation is an innovative program for current professionals seeking high-level positions in corporate management, management consulting, investment banking, private equity and entrepreneurship. You’ll emerge with the highly sought-after ability to connect business strategy, execution, value creation and valuation.

Our Management degree program will provide you with an overview of business operations, including techniques to strategically align the human, technology and financial assets of a firm. As a business management major, you’ll become prepared for a career in a variety of service-delivery, manufacturing, consulting, non-profit and digital business environments.

Choose from one of six concentrations — general management, entrepreneurship, human resources, leadership and change management, operations management, or sports management. The courses you take will be tailored to the concentration you choose.

Business management majors here will benefit from programs and networking events at DePaul’s Coleman Entrepreneurship Center and Center for Innovation, as well as DePaul’s presence in Chicago’s 1871 business incubator.

The Master of Public Health (MPH) program provides a collaborative, applied approach to public health education, focusing on health promotion and disease prevention to vulnerable populations. Gain the knowledge and practical skills to become an effective public health leader and solve problems to reduce health disparities. Choose from one of two concentrations:

• Community health practice: Assess a community’s health needs and design, implement and evaluate interventions that address those needs.
• Social epidemiology: Use biostatistics and epidemiology to inform research, policy and intervention efforts aimed at eliminating health inequalities.

Earn your master’s in Sustainable Urban Development and explore how cities cope with the demand for environmental sustainability while supporting economic growth and social justice. The program is framed by a simple value—that a sustainable city is one that’s sustainable for everyone. You will look at sustainability holistically, researching urban environments as an integrated system. Beyond theoretical knowledge, you’ll gain a technical foundation using industry-standard Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping software.

As an Astrophysics major, you’ll study the formation of the universe and the behavior and life cycles of stars, planets and galaxies. You’ll focus on scientific investigation, laboratory experience and research opportunities to give you hands-on experience in the field of astrophysics.

You’ll start by taking core courses that align with the standard Physics major. The program is designed with flexibility so that you can focus on instrumentation, observational data analysis, or theoretical/computational work by choosing appropriate elective courses.

As part of the Grace School of Applied Diplomacy at DePaul, our Master of Applied Diplomacy program unites traditional and non-traditional approaches to the field of diplomacy. Here, we know that the work of diplomacy is not limited to members of the foreign service, but practiced by members of non-governmental organizations, business people, scientists, and community organizers.

Critical Approaches
The MA in Applied Diplomacy is dedicated to preparing students to enter this dynamic world of diplomacy. Our core courses offer all students a shared understanding of diplomatic studies, global relations, international political economy and sustainable international development, a firm foundation that complements each of our six diverse concentrations.

The Critical Approaches to Diplomacy concentration provides a foundation for those interested in interrogating the power and practices associated with the field of diplomacy. The concentration provides preparation for a variety of careers, as well as advanced studies in the field. Students selecting this concentration will study critical social theory, culture and identity, and the impact of post-colonial studies on the practice and study of diplomacy.

The Secondary Education program prepares you to teach 9th through 12th grade in a variety of urban and suburban education settings, including public and private high schools. You can graduate with a State of Illinois license to teach designated subject-area content (listed below). The program also provides you an opportunity to receive a Diploma Year Program Award (IB certification) to teach in International Baccalaureate schools world-wide.

As part of the secondary education major, you’ll learn educational theories and effective teaching practices, including how to design and implement curriculum; participate in extensive field experiences at multiple schools, and student-teach for 10 weeks.

The Master of Science in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) prepares students to ideate, design, implement, and evaluate computer-based technologies so they are useful and usable for end users. This interdisciplinary degree integrates concepts and methods from computer science, graphic design and the social sciences. Drawing upon these concepts and methods, students learn user-centered and participatory design approaches as they create information and communication technologies (ICTs) such as dynamic web sites, mobile apps and desktop applications. Particular emphasis is given to ICT evaluation, exploratory user research, information architecture, interaction design, and prototype development.
