DePaul's graduate Computer Science program is the premier training ground for computing professionals in the Chicago area. Unlike a certificate program, our master's courses focus on fundamental concepts that remain constant, even as technology changes rapidly. Unlike more research focused institutions, however, our courses emphasize the programmatic application of these fundamental concepts. Students interested in research will find an abundance of advanced topics—medical imaging, data mining, algorithmic analysis, and scientific computing, to name a few.

Our writing and rhetoric program is dedicated to writing degree students who will study literate activity across time and culture, and produce effective writing in contemporary settings—from the personal to the professional.

Because our lives are increasingly mediated by digital technologies that combine writing, sound and image in interactive spaces, you’ll explore what it means to live and work as a digital writer.

Faculty members who teach in the writing degree program are published specialists in rhetoric, writing studies, English as a second language (ESL), technical and professional writing, and new media studies.

DePaul’s Marketing MBA program will give you a strong foundation in market research, category management, business development and digital marketing. Specialize in one of these four areas, or combine areas of specialization to suit your career goals. This degree offers you a path to a number of positions, including account manager, digital marketing manager, director of research or senior research analyst.

DePaul’s bachelor degree in Applied Diplomacy program will provide you with a deep understanding and appreciation for traditional and non-traditional approaches to the field. As part of the recently launched Grace School of Applied Diplomacy, the program will teach you how the work of 21st century diplomacy is informed by the contributions of multiple voices and perspectives through the eyes of both scholars and practitioners.

As you work toward your degree in diplomacy, you’ll gain a foundational understanding of the theory and practice of diplomacy in order to engage real-world challenges posed by social and political factionalization, conflict and competing interpretations of individual responsibility, civic duty and national identity.

In the Spanish program, you will study the language, literature and cultures of the Spanish-speaking world. Over 400 million people speak Spanish as their native language and it is the official language of 21 countries; it’s also one of the official languages of the United Nations and the European Union.

More than 40 million native Spanish speakers live in the United States, and a bachelor’s degree in Spanish will develop your fluency and communication skills in our interconnected world.

Chicago is a diverse city with numerous Latin American communities. Practice your Spanish while exploring festivals, neighborhoods, restaurants, museums, and other cultural institutions that will allow you to experience firsthand the richness of the Spanish-speaking world.

The Master of Music in performance degree prepares students for professional music careers in a supportive, collegial environment.  Graduate students study with highly celebrated performers who are committed to teaching excellence.  The graduate performance program consists of applied lessons, ensembles, core studies in music theory/history and research, and related studies.  The Master of Music degree is a two year program.

The Animation MFA is the premiere degree of the DePaul graduate Animation program. It’s designed for students who are interested in creating original animated films and artwork as their main vocation, and is the terminal degree in the field.

The DePaul Animation MFA program is centered around a fall-through-spring single project model, in which students are closely mentored by faculty. During the first year students spend the majority of their time working on a film they complete under the tutelage of one of the two Animation MFA Co-Chairs, Amy Lockhart and Jacob Ciocci. They also choose MFA Faculty Mentors from our full-time faculty, who regularly consult with them on their projects. Students are helped to develop a personal vision and push the limits of their abilities and the potential of animation as an expressive medium.

During their second year, students begin work with one of the MFA Co-Chairs on their MFA Thesis Project, and assemble their MFA Thesis Committee for regular feedback. The program uses the cohort model, so students will work alongside their peers throughout their degree. Animation MFA students also receive rigorous training in the history, critical artistic issues, and fundamental principles that are necessary for animation artists. The degree is intended for those with undergraduate degrees in Animation, Film, Art, Graphic Design, Illustration and other visual art areas.

The Bilingual-Bicultural Education (MA) focuses on teaching and supporting language learners at all age levels. Make a direct impact on the academic and social lives of your students by more effectively incorporating theory, practice and cultural context into your classroom.

Psychological Science MA program is a highly competitive program that trains students in the theories and methodologies that define the core scientific pillars of psychology: social, developmental, cognitive and neuroscience.

With an emphasis on critical and integrative thinking, our students will understand the psychological foundations of human thought, emotions, motivation and behavior while conducting innovative research on diverse topics within psychology. You will have the opportunity to develop research and statistical skills both inside the laboratory and out in the world developing scientific solutions to real-world problems. Our program will equip you with the skills and knowledge necessary for a career as a researcher, educator, and/or consultant in a variety of fields.

Our master’s of Occupational Therapy program will prepare you to become an occupational therapist who treats children and adults with various developmental physical, cognitive and psychological conditions. You’ll be trained to work in a variety of settings, including schools, hospitals, clinics and private practice.

With an emphasis of providing care to members of our urban, global environment, this program is rooted in our Catholic, Vincentian mission. Here, Occupational Therapy program students will learn to:

• Advocate for access, inclusion and social justice within health, educational and community settings
• Develop culturally-relevant, occupation-based interventions to improve health and participation within communities
• Utilize evidence-based practices to deliver ethical, effective care
