We know legal change is one of the best ways to effect social change, so we'll make sure you gain a strong understanding of America's legal system. Work with a prominent civil rights attorney in Tuskegee, Alabama. You'll visit Washington, D.C. for an introduction of American law. Learn from real-life experiences with an internship. Take a semester abroad. And later, you'll even travel to five European countries as you learn about law in the global community.

Local businesses are an extension of our classrooms. We have the experts and connections you need to develop your skills. Immerse yourself in a personal, spiritually-minded fashion community. You'll have access to our historic archive including Halston, a world-renowned designer. Our collection includes historic garments from every decade since 1890 — including designer clothes.

Search through our scrapbooks and hundreds of clothing patterns (think Elizabeth Taylor, Jackie Kennedy Onassis, Liza Minnelli and more) for inspiration. Take part in fashion shows. Study abroad opportunities include a two-week fashion course in Florence, Italy, along with a one-week New York study tour.

Teaching
The mathematics department at Lipscomb University prepares you to be an excellent teacher who is both mathematically sound and pedagogically proficient. We work closely with Lipscomb’s nationally ranked College of Education to ensure that you are trained and up to date in the latest educational standards and trends. The extra hours of foreign language required for a B.A. make for a highly marketable degree due to the diversity of Davidson County and the surrounding areas.

We have a very high placement rate for employment of our graduates. Recent graduates have been recognized for excellence in teaching. Two have been named Teacher of the Year in Metro Nashville within the last five years.

The more mathematics an engineering, science, computer science or business student takes, the more jobs openings and graduate school openings are available to that student. The applied mathematics degree is an especially good choice for a double major for students who are already required to have a minor in mathematics, such as engineering and computer science majors. It also qualifies business students to work as an actuary.

Contribute your vision to the world. Learn the foundations and practice of animation, from character design to top-end computer graphics and 3D graphics. At Lipscomb, you'll grow your creative skills under some of the most prominent animators in the U.S., including Tom Bancroft and John Pomeroy. You’ll connect with and learn from experts in Maya software, the industry standard in computer graphics and CGI effects. You’ll even have the option of taking on opportunities in Los Angeles — our department’s Los Angeles internship program as well as a yearly trip to work at an animation studio there.

We all want to know the answers to the so-called “big questions” of life. So seek them in an intellectually satisfying way at Lipscomb. There are no gimmicks or trends here.  We're following the time-honored, Socratic method of pursuing truth — and doing so in dialogue with the Christian intellectual tradition.

We approach the study of philosophy by reading the classics and by wrestling with ideas and reasons in civil debate with one another. What makes an action right as opposed to wrong?  What is knowledge, and can we have it?  Does anything at all make life meaningful?  How can an all-powerful and good God allow evil to occur?  What distinguishes cogent from fallacious reasoning, and how can we best analyze and assess arguments?  What is the nature of truth, beauty, goodness, and freedom?   

You'll study the work of the greatest minds in Western history. And you'll learn to identify and evaluate the fundamental assumptions that shape how we think about the world — and ourselves. Use the skills you develop in philosophy to pursue internships and job opportunities in a variety of fields, including government, politics, and history. Or continue onto law school, business school, or graduate school to hone your focus even further.

The truth is that history graduates can be found in any career where superior analytic training and good writing and communication skills are needed. The economy of today requires versatile, nimble minds who can adjust to the constantly changing landscapes of the global economy and the shuffle that occurs within industries and places.  History majors are ideal for this world as they have faced the challenges of the past with the great writers, ideas, figures, and events. We have pledged ourselves to making history accessible to all Lipscomb students. The Great Ideas in History curriculum serves our students' need to know the contours of progress and culture. Our 36-hour major allows students to finish in three years or to add the history major to their primary field of study.
