We will help you prepare for a career in the life sciences: think clinical or biomedical research, or other graduate programs in the allied health professions. Computer technology is at the core of nearly every modern enterprise, so let us help you develop your knowledge. Our expert faculty specialize in different areas of computing and can help you broaden the skills you need to be valuable in any modern workplace.  We'll teach you to study, design, create, utilize, support and manage computer-based systems, software applications and computer hardware. This program is all about all things modern — embedded systems in automobiles, smart homes and even mobile and distributed systems. Our program sets itself apart by being distinctly Christian — with a plethora of research opportunities. We provide flexible emphases for our applied chemistry major, from computer science or mathematics to business, green chemistry, environmental chemistry and forensic science.

Environmental Chemistry Emphasis (Chemistry major - applied)
Choose the environmental chemistry emphasis and you’ll have excellent preparation for becoming an environmental laboratory professional.

The political science program is dedicated to producing wise leaders and responsible citizens. Politics is society in action as it makes choices and shapes priorities. Our students enjoy the chance to witness and participate in local and state government here in Nashville, Tennessee's state capital. The Washington Seminar allows them an inside look at our national policy process and on-site visits to places no tourist goes. Many students use their Global Learning semester abroad to travel and study internationally, which they integrate into our International Affairs major.

We have pledged ourselves to making politics and citizenship accessible to all Lipscomb students. The Great Ideas in Politics general education curriculum serves our students' need to know the ideas and habits of citizenship. Our 39-hour major allows students to finish in three years or to add the political science major to their primary field of study.

Help others adopt a healthier lifestyle through diet and nutrition. Our accredited undergraduate dietetics program is designed to provide a high-quality education with a Christian perspective.

Take courses from a variety of disciplines to gain a holistic, practical knowledge of dietetics. Learn about where food comes from, how its preparation affects its nutritional value and how it is processed by the human body. Apply your skills in community service and engagement.

Teaching
The mathematics department at Lipscomb University prepares you to be an excellent teacher who is both mathematically sound and pedagogically proficient. We work closely with Lipscomb’s nationally ranked College of Education to ensure that you are trained and up to date in the latest educational standards and trends. The extra hours of foreign language required for a B.A. make for a highly marketable degree due to the diversity of Davidson County and the surrounding areas.

We have a very high placement rate for employment of our graduates. Recent graduates have been recognized for excellence in teaching. Two have been named Teacher of the Year in Metro Nashville within the last five years.

Applied
The more mathematics an engineering, science, computer science or business student takes, the more jobs openings and graduate school openings are available to that student. The applied mathematics degree is an especially good choice for a double major for students who are already required to have a minor in mathematics, such as engineering and computer science majors. It also qualifies business students to work as an actuary.

American studies is an interdisciplinary program that seeks to examine the history, culture and society of America by combining courses taken in a variety of fields including history, political science and literature.
