The International Year is a 3-semester program, equivalent to a year's study of a bachelor's degree. English
Grounded in our academic tradition as a Hispanic Serving Institution, the undergraduate English Program at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi invites students to engage with texts and employ language-related skills to connect with others both locally and globally.

We encourage students to explore and integrate three disciplines of English studies in their work, through the study of literature, applied linguistics, and writing. We challenge students to analyze, think critically about, and compose texts across genres, language varieties, and traditions for communities across cultural and geographic boundaries. In our courses and community events, students develop the advanced critical and creative literacies and language-related skills that prepare them for their future as active and ethical members of diverse communities.

What Will I Learn
Within this program, you will develop the advanced critical and creative literacies and language-related skills that prepare you for your future as active and ethical member of diverse communities. You will also apply critical terms and theoretical concepts and perspectives in writing and analyzing texts. With this degree you can apply effective and appropriate literary/rhetorical/linguistic methods and strategies in writing and/or in analyzing texts (spoken, written, and multimodal).

Art
The curriculum for the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree is designed to provide professional development at the undergraduate level in the visual arts, through in-depth study in studio art. The degree requires a minimum of 75 semester hours in art, at least 36 of which must be in upper-division coursework.

What Will I Learn
Within this program, you’ll gain a broad understanding of visual art. You’ll also be preparing for specific careers along with theories and concepts, and will apply these theories and concepts in the senior exhibition.

Graphic design is a creative and inspiring process that combines art and technology to communicate ideas and information visually from client to audience. Rooted in traditional art and design foundations, the focus of the graphic design curriculum is to educate and inform students of the impact design can make through the exploration of diverse problem-solving methodologies, innovative investigations, and creative research in all forms of visual communication.

Through their studio work, graphic design majors will address issues stressing social and cultural awareness, integration of new technology, and sustainable practices while being prepared to enter into the evolving creative industry.

The accounting major is designed to provide entry-level knowledge, skills, and concepts for careers in accounting.

Accounting careers are generally divided into four broad areas, corresponding to particular employment environments: management accounting, government accounting, accounting education, and public accounting.

As part of the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration (NASPAA), the Masters of Public Administration Program at TAMU-CC encourages you to go public with your career.

Public Administration focuses on the application of Public Administration theory and concepts in real world situations. The program focuses on the management of critical issues in our three tracks:

• Public Management
• Public Safety
• Healthcare Administration
• Non-profit Management

The MPA has been designed to meet the needs of full-time employees wishing to earn their degree through part-time study. Students in the program will take a core of seven courses in order to increase their understanding of administrative theory, policy making, data analysis, public budgeting and finance, and human resource management.

The economics major is designed to provide students with a solid foundation in the theory and applications of economics in preparation for their chosen profession.

You’ll be able to demonstrate an understanding of contemporary economic theories and policy considerations in a domestic and international context. In addition, demonstrate the ability to identify relevant (valid, reliable, and important) information to the issue being studied.

The Biomedical Sciences Program offers a degree that prepares students for professional careers related to human or animal health and safety. This program is a unique blend of course work and experiences that gives students a broad conceptual framework while allowing them to focus on applied biomedical sciences.

Chemistry
The Chemistry faculty seeks to provide a high-quality educational experience for students majoring in chemistry in preparation for industrial or government positions, for graduate study, and for entry to medical or dental schools. The program is also designed for those planning to teach chemistry or physics at the 7-12 level, or who need chemical knowledge and skills relevant to future studies in the sciences. The student who wishes to obtain a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry may do so by following one of the four curriculum plans referred to as Concentrations. The options include general, environmental, biochemistry, and physical science education concentrations. Students who are pre-medical, pre-dental, pre-optometry, pre-pharmacy, or pre-veterinary medicine may follow the biochemistry concentration. In addition, the biochemistry concentration offers an option which would allow students to pursue certification in clinical chemistry while obtaining their Bachelors in Chemistry.

Accounting
The accounting major is designed to provide entry-level knowledge, skills, and concepts for careers in accounting. Within this program, you’ll gain a broad understanding of accounting. You’ll also understand key accounting theories and concepts, and will apply these accounting theories and concepts correctly. As part of this degree, you’ll perfect your communication skills and be competent in business practices.

Designed for students who want to become historians, develop academic skills to prepare for careers in public history, or archiving or prepare for PhD programs. The program will also enhance the professional development of secondary education teachers.

Learning about the past in an exciting endeavor. It also involves more than just telling stories. Professional historians use archives and the work of other scholars to develop their own understanding of the past. They research, analyze, and offer original interpretations of the past in rigorous and clearly-written work. As graduate students in history, you will do the same. The Master's degree in History is structured to introduce students to these critical tasks.

The MA in History will benefit secondary school teachers seeking to enhance their professional skills and standing. It will also benefit students planning careers in academia, public history, archival work, government, non-profit, or the professions.
