Undergraduate International Pathway Program (1-Semester) - Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing

English majors will choose an emphasis in literary studies or writing studies. The literary studies emphasis provides students with the skills to interpret and write about texts, including literary and filmic, within a range of historical and cultural contexts.

The writing studies emphasis allows students to develop their abilities to use writing in a variety of contexts and for a variety of purposes, and to develop an understanding of how writing operates in the world, through studies in rhetoric, literacy, and writing.

Both tracks give students skills as critical thinkers and communicators that will prepare them for a variety of different career paths, including law, business, teaching, and the sciences, as well as for graduate study.

The International Year is a 2-semester program, equivalent to a year's study of a bachelor's degree. This program has been specially designed to prepare international students for an undergraduate degree at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. Criminal Justice
This program has two main objectives: to provide an advanced understanding of the criminal justice system and its components and to provide either a concentration of knowledge and application of skills in a specialized subfield of study or a broad exploration of the discipline-based on individual student needs through the selection of disciplinary electives.

What Will I Learn
Within this program, you will demonstrate an understanding of the operation and purposes of the major components of the criminal justice system (police, courts, and corrections). You’ll also demonstrate the ability to critically analyze the criminal justice system and its aims and objectives. Our program offers performance opportunities via a wide array of ensembles which are open to all university students, including university orchestra, symphonic and concert bands, pep band, jazz band, university singers, Camerata Isla (chamber choir), and Corpus Christi Chorale. Music majors also participate in chamber ensembles including string quartet, various woodwind and brass ensembles, percussion ensemble, guitar ensemble, and more.

What Will I Learn
Within this program, you’ll gain a broad understanding of music. You’ll also understand music theory, history, literature, and culture. As part of this degree, you’ll perfect your critical thinking skills when hearing musical sounds.

Atmospheric Science
The Bachelor of Science program in Atmospheric Sciences addresses the needs of students interested in studying meteorology or climate science. The program provides students with an in-depth knowledge of the physical characteristics, motions and processes of air; as well as the interactions of this protective layer with the underlying oceans and continents. The undergraduate program emphasizes a systems approach, combining traditional atmospheric sciences with emerging fields. In particular, the program focuses on the fields of tropical meteorology and oceanography that are directly linked to the Gulf of Mexico and surrounding coastal regions where the university is strategically located.

Computer Science
The computer science degree program is applied in nature and is designed to prepare students to begin or advance computing careers in business, industry, government, or education, or to pursue further study in computer science. The curriculum is thorough, current, and oriented toward the technical competencies required of a modern computer professional with an emphasis on the development, evaluation, and integration of software systems.

What Will I Learn
Within this program, you’ll analyze a complex computing problem, and to apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions. You’ll also design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline. As apart of this degree, you will be able to communicate effectively, make informed judgments and function as a member or leader within computer science team using theory and software development fundamentals to produce solutions.

The accounting major is designed to provide entry-level knowledge, skills, and concepts for careers in accounting.

Accounting careers are generally divided into four broad areas, corresponding to particular employment environments: management accounting, government accounting, accounting education, and public accounting.

The main focus of the program is to develop the student’s language proficiency and the literary, cultural, practical application, and translation competencies demanded by many professional fields. To accomplish these goals, the Spanish curriculum includes courses in general Spanish Language, Spanish for the Professions, Hispanic Linguistics, Spanish and Spanish-American Literatures and Civilizations, and Translation.

These courses are provided for students pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish with or without Secondary Teacher Certification, or Spanish/English Translation Certificate; for those fulfilling Second Language requirements or the Language, Philosophy, and Culture requirement in the Core Curriculum Program, and for those seeking electives to support majors and minors in other fields.

The Mays Business School offers a graduate program leading to the degree of Master of Business Administration (MBA). Enrollment in the Mays MBA Program and related courses is restricted to students in the classification G7 BUAD. A G6 student is not eligible to enroll in Mays MBA Program courses.

All core course enrollments are handled through the Mays MBA Program Office. Details regarding the Mays MBA Program curriculum may be obtained by contacting the MBA Program Office. The Mays MBA Program is a non-thesis degree for which a final oral examination is not required. Admission to the program is in the fall semester only. The Mays Business School is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) at all program levels.

The Master of Science in Professional Counseling (60 semester hours) offers training in three major areas:

• Addictions Counseling
• Clinical Mental Health Counseling
• Marriage, Family, and Couples Counseling

Upon completion of the degree program, students will have met all relevant Texas Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) educational requirements. Students who complete the marriage, couple, and family counseling emphasis will also meet Texas Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) educational requirements. Each students’ personal and professional development is periodically reviewed by faculty. Students who fail to demonstrate basic knowledge, personal skills, communication skills, interpersonal skills, and/or counseling skills will be asked to seek remediation or may be dismissed from the program.
