The International Year is a 3-semester program, equivalent to a year's study of a bachelor's degree. This program has been specially designed to prepare international students for an undergraduate degree at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. You will learn in a supportive environment, helping you to adjust to your new surroundings.

Your International Year program will be a combination of English for Academic Purposes courses to develop your English language skills, and route specific courses. Each of these courses has been specially designed to help you develop the skills required to help you succeed in your university degree.

Environmental Science
The environmental science program at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi is designed to serve environmental science majors, science majors from other fields interested in adding to their knowledge of the environment, and interested non-science majors.

What Will I Learn
Within this program, you’ll enjoy small specialty classes and diverse laboratory and field experiences. Environmental science facilities include biological, geological and map collections as well as a wide array of field and laboratory equipment, and computer labs for GIS and modeling studies. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi research centers and institutes on campus afford students access to modern laboratories where they may participate in environmental research.

The finance curriculum includes core courses in finance that provide students with a background in security analysis and investments, portfolio management, and financial planning and analysis. The curriculum also covers monetary policy, banking, financial markets, financial reporting, statement analysis, and risk management.

Within this program, you’ll gain a broad understanding of finance and may select finance electives in their area of interest such as insurance, real estate, accounting, or expand their knowledge in investments or financial analysis. You’ll be able to  demonstrate knowledge of key finance theories and concepts, and will apply these Finance theories and concepts correctly.

The MIS program supports students and professionals in their applied use of computers. Information systems supports a variety of business activities using computer systems; it is not intended to prepare software developers.

MIS (Management information systems) is a perfect career for a student who loves doing business and at the same time enjoys working with computers and technologies. MIS is a people-oriented field with an emphasis on meeting business needs through technology. This major explores how students can use computing technologies to create business solutions and focuses on the best way to enable the organization to meet its goals and business challenges. MIS students learn about business processes and analyze how to improve the processes using technology.

Chemistry
The Chemistry faculty seeks to provide a high-quality educational experience for students majoring in chemistry in preparation for industrial or government positions, for graduate study, and for entry to medical or dental schools. The program is also designed for those planning to teach chemistry or physics at the 7-12 level, or who need chemical knowledge and skills relevant to future studies in the sciences. The student who wishes to obtain a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry may do so by following one of the four curriculum plans referred to as Concentrations. The options include general, environmental, biochemistry, and physical science education concentrations. Students who are pre-medical, pre-dental, pre-optometry, pre-pharmacy, or pre-veterinary medicine may follow the biochemistry concentration. In addition, the biochemistry concentration offers an option which would allow students to pursue certification in clinical chemistry while obtaining their Bachelors in Chemistry.

What Will I Learn
Within this program, you’ll gain a broad understanding of chemical concepts. You’ll also understand a variety of chemical data. As part of this degree, you’ll perfect your communication skills regarding chemical information in oral and written form, with appropriate use of technology.

Biomedical Sciences
The Biomedical Sciences Program offers a degree that prepares students for professional careers related to human or animal health and safety. This program is a unique blend of course work and experiences that gives students a broad conceptual framework while allowing them to focus on applied biomedical sciences.

What Will I Learn
Within this program, you’ll gain a broad conceptual framework while allowing them to focus on applied biomedical sciences, including Forensic Science.

English majors will choose an emphasis in literary studies or writing studies. The literary studies emphasis provides students with the skills to interpret and write about texts, including literary and filmic, within a range of historical and cultural contexts.

The writing studies emphasis allows students to develop their abilities to use writing in a variety of contexts and for a variety of purposes, and to develop an understanding of how writing operates in the world, through studies in rhetoric, literacy, and writing.

Both tracks give students skills as critical thinkers and communicators that will prepare them for a variety of different career paths, including law, business, teaching, and the sciences, as well as for graduate study.

Mechanical Engineering Technology
The Engineering Technology Council of the American Society for Engineering Education defines Engineering Technology as the profession in which knowledge of mathematics and natural sciences gained by higher education, experience, and practices is devoted primarily to the implementation and extension of existing technology for the benefit of humanity. Engineering technology focuses on the applied aspects of science and engineering to prepare graduates for practice in product improvement, manufacturing, and engineering operational functions. Engineering technologists are suited for industries that deal with application, manufacturing, implementation, engineering operation, sales, and production.

What Will I Learn
Within this program, you’ll gain a broad understanding of engineering technology. You’ll also be able to solve problems using technical and hands-on skills and apply their knowledge in the design, manufacture, sales, installation, operation and/or maintenance of complex, high-value systems.

Public Administration focuses on the application of Public Administration theory and concepts in real world situations. The program focuses on the management of critical issues in our three tracks:

• Public Management
• Public Safety
• Healthcare Administration
• Non-profit Management

The MPA has been designed to meet the needs of full-time employees wishing to earn their degree through part-time study. Students in the program will take a core of seven courses in order to increase their understanding of administrative theory, policy making, data analysis, public budgeting and finance, and human resource management.

Industrial Engineers apply science, mathematics, and engineering methods to complex system integration and operations. Because these systems are so large and complex, IEs need to have knowledge and skills in a wide variety of disciplines, the ability to work well with people, and a broad, systems perspective. Industrial engineers use their knowledge and skills to improve systematic processes through the use of statistical analysis, interpersonal communication, design, planning, quality control, operations management, computer simulation, and problem solving.

The industrial engineering curriculum prepares graduates to design, develop, implement, and improve integrated systems that include people, materials, information, equipment and energy. The curriculum includes in-depth instruction to accomplish the integration of systems using appropriate analytical, computational, and experimental practices.

The Environmental Science MS program provides a rich and rewarding setting in which students can develop and communicate innovative and practical solutions to present and future environmental challenges, with a focus on urban and coastal issues.
