Health Sciences - Pre-Chiropractic

The combined Bachelor of Science/Doctor of Chiropractic (BS/DC) program between the University of Hartford and New York Chiropractic College (NYCC) provides a unique opportunity for students with career goals in chiropractic medicine. The accelerated program typically allows for the completion of the BS/DC degrees in a six-and-one-third-year period.

The BS/DC program is for the academically outstanding student with strong, realistic motivation toward the chiropractic profession. Initial study at the University of Hartford allows you to complete the general education and basic science requirements for the BS in health science degree and the prerequisites necessary for professional study. The BS degree is awarded by the University of Hartford following the successful completion of the first year of graduate study. Students who are not in the accelerated program typically complete the BS degree in four years at the University of Hartford.

The chiropractic program requires three and one-third years of combined academic and clinical training leading to the DC degree, which is a prerequisite for licensure eligibility in the United States. NYCC provides students with an accredited three-and-one-third-year professional chiropractic curriculum.

Politics and Government
If you are planning a career in law, government, the civil services, politics, journalism, or the nonprofit sector, or policy analysis, our politics and government program gives you the opportunity to explore your interests and get hands-on experience before you graduate.
Politics and government is the study of policy, government, and law giving you an understanding about the processes by which power, authority, influence, control, freedom, wealth, and other political resources are competitively pursued, captured, and distributed. You also study how these become public policies, part of government, and the law.

Management
Learn fundamental principles of organizations, the nature and capabilities of people, how to function well in a team, and the methods involved in analyzing and solving managerial problems. Build on those lessons with an internship that enhances your interpersonal and leadership skills.

Judaic Studies

Judaic studies is an interdisciplinary program of study which focuses on the Jews and Judaism, including but not limited to, historical, linguistic, religious, sociological, political, and philosophical perspectives. Our program spans the periods from the beginnings of ancient Israel through the modern Jews and modern Israel. If you have no previous experience with Hebrew language, you are required to complete 42 credits including three required, core courses in Jewish history (9 credits) and two years of modern Hebrew (12 credits). The modern Hebrew requirement may be waived for students who demonstrate equivalent fluency.

Multimedia Web Design and Development

The Multimedia Web Design and Development (MWDD) program is where you learn how to build and design websites that are innovative, attractive, and easy to use, and create motion graphics, animation, and multimedia content for mobile applications and computer games. Our small class sizes give you the chance to really get to know your professors. You can count on them to give you academic advice, as well as access to internship opportunities.
The MWDD major gives you great flexibility with unrestricted electives allowing you to incorporate your outside interests and goals into the major. You take classes in communication, computer science, and layout design

International Studies
At UHart, the world can be your classroom! Seventy-five percent of our international studies student study abroad for a semester, a year, or during our Winterterm or Summerterm.

You can concentrate in either global security or global development, and consider a double major in politics and government, economics, or modern languages and cultures.

If you are interested in a careers in government, business, education, the nonprofit sector, or certain areas of law, the international studies program gives you a solid foundation. It also is appropriate to prepare for graduate studies in a variety of fields.

The Marketing major includes core business classes, to give you a background in all areas of for-profit companies and nonprofits. Then, delve deeper into the marketing field with more specialized classes. You may also choose a concentration in International Marketing, Marketing Communications, Retailing, and Services Marketing to focus your career path. An internship ties it all together, giving you hands-on experience for your resume and skills to use in your first job.
