The International Pathway Program (IPP) is your route to a degree from the highly ranked University of Hartford. The IPP is open to students who have proven their academic ability but need to strengthen their English skills to achieve positive results in the collegiate environment. You will learn about the subjects you love, while being able to dedicate time to developing your English.

Electrical and Computer Engineering
The Master of Science (MS) in electrical and computer engineering program is a research-oriented program that focuses on the advancement of the fundamental body of knowledge in electrical and computer engineering while also fostering the development of skills in design and analysis. This program lets you study an area of interest as part of a graduate thesis. Work towards solving a contemporary problem and become a technical expert. This program is also ideal for those who endeavor to eventually pursue their doctoral degree in an area within engineering.

The School Psychology program is an integrated full-time program, with a three-year sequence of course work and practicum experiences, leading to the both a Master of Science Degree.

The Master of Science in School Psychology prepares school psychologists with particular competencies to work with children, families, and educational systems. It is designed to prepare highly qualified practitioners whose primary role is to maximize learning and developmental opportunities for children. Specifically, the program’s primary goal is to produce highly competent clinicians who will meet employment demands for services involving:

• Assessment and Diagnosis
• Counseling and Psychotherapy
• Consultation and Collaboration

The program is planned to be completed in three academic years of full-time study. The program is administratively housed within the Department of Psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences, is part of the Certification Council in the School of Education, and the program holds accreditation from the Connecticut State Department of Education, as well as national approval from the National Association of School Psychologists and National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education partnership (NASP/NCATE).

Students study a combination of English Language courses and credit-bearing academic courses. So they can earn credits towards their degree from the beginning.

Biology
If you are planning a career in research or plan to go on to graduate, medical, dental school then the Bachelor of Science in Biology program is recommended for you.
The curriculum includes a broad approach to biology and offers a comprehensive background in mathematics and the natural sciences.

Interdisciplinary Engineering Studies

If you’re interested in educational and/or career goals and objectives that are not met specifically by one of the school’s traditional majors, the Interdisciplinary Engineering Studies program may be an option for you.

This type of major is considered an individualized education plan and may involve educational experiences in more than one school or college of the University. Contracts that involve advanced or specialized courses from more than one college are considered cross-college contract programs and must have the explicit approval of both schools or colleges. You may have the opportunity to take courses within business and communications, for example. You will have an opportunity to follow the common first year and second year as other engineering programs do.

Music Education: Choral Conducting
The Music Education-Choral Conducting emphasis is designed for graduate students who wish to further their teaching and conducting skills. Additionally, it will prepare students for entrance into a DMA or PhD program or a profession in academia.

The pre-professional track of the health sciences program prepares you for professional graduate study in fields such as medicine, dentistry, optometry, physician assistant, or pharmacy. You can pursue the degree on a full- or part-time basis, and you can enter the program as a freshman or a transfer student.The pre-professional track of the health sciences program prepares you for professional graduate study in fields such as medicine, dentistry, optometry, physician assistant, or pharmacy. The program combines a strong science foundation with a variety of electives that allow you to explore different health-related topics. If you’re interested in a career in health care but aren’t sure which area to pursue, the Health Sciences program may be a good fit for you. Health Sciences is also available as a minor.

Our health sciences program grounds you in the liberal arts with a firm foundation in the sciences, while providing a broad overview of the health care system. By majoring in health sciences, you can prepare for future study in a wide range of health care careers.

Although this is a non-clinical program, it will prepare you for graduate programs in fields such as medicine, dentistry, physician assistant, optometry, chiropractic, pharmacy, or podiatry.

Flute

To enrich pedagogy skills, the Hartt flute studio uses a mentoring system that pairs an undergraduate student with a graduate flutist.  They meet together for a minimum of two hours a week to work in duets, resolve any problems revealed in Techniques Class, and for the chance to do research and get feedback from a partner. This gives the graduate students a chance to develop and refine their teaching techniques before leaving school, while the undergraduates benefit from the additional “one-on-one” help in between lessons and get to know fellow flute students more quickly.

Pairs rotate every 4 weeks so everyone has the opportunity to meet and work together, creating a true collaborative atmosphere in the flute studio. The students are collegial and supportive, each gaining more from these additional opportunities to participate with their peers than they would on their own.

Health Sciences - Pre-Podiatry
The BS/DPM program is for the academically outstanding student with strong, realistic motivation toward the podiatric profession. Initial study at the University of Hartford allows you to complete the general education and basic science requirements for the BS in health science degree and the prerequisites necessary for professional study.

The BS degree is awarded by the University of Hartford following the successful completion of the first year of graduate study.  Students who are not in the accelerated program typically complete the BS degree in four years at the University of Hartford.

The podiatry program requires four years of combined academic and clinical training leading to the DPM degree, which is a prerequisite for licensure eligibility in the United States. The New York College of Podiatric Medicine provides students with an accredited four-year professional podiatry curriculum.
