The interdisciplinary studies program lets you build your degree program based on your individual career goals and skill set. Within this program, you’ll complete your general studies courses and select three academic minors that will hone your skills across a broad spectrum of topics and specializations. This course load will be rounded off with any unrestricted electives you choose to complete the minimum 120 hours course requirement. The anthropology major is a part of the Troy University Social Science Department. The program offers a wide variety of courses in cultural anthropology and archaeology. Through the Troy Archaeological Research Center (TUARC), students have the opportunity to participate in field and laboratory research and are often offered opportunities for part-time employment while attending school.

The anthropology major offers students a broad background in the field of anthropology, which includes physical, linguistics, cultural and archaeology anthropology. Our instructors bring field experience from the Near East, Australia and the southeastern United States to the program. The program will prepare students to pursue careers in anthropology or to continue their education in anthropology at the graduate level.

The purpose of Troy University's English major is to prepare undergraduate students to enter today's professions, public services, or graduate programs with literacy in English and American language. They also gain a knowledge of the world's literary culture adequate for success in today's global culture. They develop skills in formulating answers to questions through open-minded research. They also develop approaches to logical, critical, and creative thinking. Some of the other tangible goals sought in the program include:

• A development of clarity, directness, and effective personal style in the spoken and written language that characterize a well-educated person in today's global community;
• An appreciation and understanding of the long process of development behind the language and cultural configurations that define meaningful communication today, and an appreciation and understanding of the necessity for carrying this intellectual development forward in a responsible way;
• An ability to use linguistic and literary facts, which form the actual substance of the various areas of the English discipline, as enjoyable as well as practical assets in today's occupations and leisure activities.

The Biology/Biomedical Sciences program prepares students for careers in the health professions and biotechnology. It is an integral part of the pre-professional program. Students who receive a bachelor’s degree in Biology/Biomedical Sciences are well prepared to enter graduate or professional school, begin careers as laboratory technicians or seek employment in the biotechnology industry. 

Students complete a wide variety of courses aimed at providing a thorough understanding of the development, structure, and organization of the cell and are exposed to a wide variety of modern approaches to analyze genetic, molecular, and cellular events.

Specialized courses in Microbial Ecology Applied Genetics, Biochemistry, and Immunology complement the offerings in Biomedical Sciences. The inclusion of lab-based investigations in these courses serves to enhance the students' exposure to state of the art approaches to solving complex problems in biological systems.

Students who choose the Biology/Biomedical Sciences program will have many opportunities for growth outside the classroom. Many research opportunities are available for students to conduct research with faculty mentors using current technology and equipment. Additionally, students are encouraged to join the Department's three student organizations, including: Beta Beta Beta (National Biological Honor Society), The Environmental Club, and Alpha Epsilon Delta (Health Professions Honor Society).

A Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Global Business with a concentration in management highlights the importance of management within the context of a global business framework.
