The purpose of Troy University's English major is to prepare undergraduate students to enter today's professions, public services, or graduate programs with literacy in English and American language. They also gain a knowledge of the world's literary culture adequate for success in today's global culture. They develop skills in formulating answers to questions through open-minded research. They also develop approaches to logical, critical, and creative thinking. Some of the other tangible goals sought in the program include:

• A development of clarity, directness, and effective personal style in the spoken and written language that characterize a well-educated person in today's global community;

TROY’s Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in global business and a concentration in risk management and insurance highlights the importance of risk management within the context of a global business framework. Our program will offer you opportunities to obtain proficiency in risk management and insurance concepts as they are applied to servicing both commercial and personal insurance needs.

As a RMI student, you’ll gain industry-specific knowledge that will make you marketable and well-qualified for jobs in this industry. Our coursework is closely aligned with both the Associate in Surplus Lines Insurance (ASLI) and Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) professional designations.  The mission of the Troy University Student Affairs Counseling program is to prepare Student Affairs Counselors to provide competent professional service in all areas of student services counseling at the post-secondary level. It takes an insightful awareness to see all of the many issues and pressures that impact a students success and provide guidance and support to help them reach their highest potential as students and professionals in their chosen areas.

Economic issues are everywhere. The study of economics explores the choices individuals make when faced with scarcity. The study of economics can be applied to any facet of life. Why are some countries rich and others poor? Why is Social Security short on funding? Why do men and women earn different incomes? Economics addresses these questions.

Many great internship opportunities exist within the field of economics. The Division of Economics and Finance works with several organizations such as the American Institute for Economic Research, the American Enterprise Institute, the Cato Institute, the Institute for Humane Studies, the Institute for Justice and the Tax Foundation to offer great internship opportunities to students pursuing degrees in economics.

The Division of Economics and Finance is also home to the Manuel H. Johnson Center for Political Economy. The Johnson Center provides a dynamic and rigorous education program focused on the imperatives of free markets and individual liberty as well as relevant policy research on current and local issues. Students interested in the free enterprise system will enjoy the programs offered by the Johnson Center.

Students with a background in economics will find employment opportunities in both the private and public sectors. Entry level positions in the private sector include marketing research, management consulting, banking, investing and insurance. Government positions include economic forecasting, public policy/legislation analysis and economic impact studies.

Students may also choose to pursue a graduate education. An undergraduate degree in economics is an excellent foundation for graduate study in economics, business, law or public policy.

 The computer science program provides students with a curriculum in the key domains of computer science at undergraduate and graduate levels. A bachelor’s degree in chemistry opens many avenues and provides many career options. Nationwide, about 60 percent of graduates enter the workforce in industries such as chemical, food and pharmaceutical manufacturing. The TROY Spanish Club is very active on campus and plays host to many cultural and language activities for students.

TROY students also work with native speakers from Puerto Rico, Mexico, Spain, Costa Rica, Venezuela and other Spanish speaking countries inside the classroom. The TROY Spanish program not only prepares students to speak and write Spanish at an intermediate level or higher, it focuses on the cultural similarities and differences between Spanish speaking countries and the United States.
