As a student in this program, you will gain competencies in various aspects of the industry including merchandise and assortment planning, product development, consumer behavior, sourcing, distribution channels, communication and sustainability. Industry complexities offer fertile ground for impactful research, critical thinking applications within the classroom and collaborations with corporate partners. Understanding the global platform on which the apparel industry is based is central to our program content.

With the rapid advances in information technologies, the volume of data that are generated has tremendously increased in recent years. The data come from everywhere: online transactions, mobile apps, sensors, video-capturing systems, social media and more, and are arriving at a scale of terabytes (or even petabytes). Businesses gain strategic and managerial insights by gathering, cleaning and analyzing the data.

Our joint program with the College of Education ensures that our Spanish education majors will be prepared to successfully meet the needs of a diverse, modern student population.

Physiology is the study of how living organisms function under normal conditions and is a foundational component of many careers in the health sciences. The BS in Human Physiology is intended for undergraduate students interested in careers in medicine, biomedical research, industry or other allied health professions for which a comprehensive knowledge of human physiology is required. The curriculum includes core courses in biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics along with extensive upper level courses in human anatomy and physiology. The major is particularly suited for those who plan to continue their studies at the post-baccalaureate level through graduate or professional training. By selecting from a list of recommended electives, students can easily achieve all of the necessary prerequisite requirements for admission into medical and dental schools and be prepared to take the applicable entrance exams. Alternatively, those interested in other careers within the health sciences can choose among a broader list of electives that further enhance their understanding of human health and disease. The curriculum is intentionally demanding with the goal of providing the next generation of leaders in the health sciences with foundational knowledge in human physiological function at the molecular, cellular and organism level.

Neuroscience is a rapidly growing field that draws from multiple disciplines, including biology, psychology, physics, chemistry, medicine, mathematics, engineering and beyond, with the nervous system and its functions serving as the common focus. From molecules to mental activity, our undergraduate students learn about the structure, function, biochemistry, pharmacology, evolution, development, genetics, circuitry, excitable properties and pathology of the human and animal nervous systems. Because of the interdisciplinary nature of neuroscience, our major prepares students for a variety of research, medical, health, pharmaceutical and human services careers.

The B.A. in Art—one of three undergraduate art and design degrees offered at UD—provides the same foundation in art making through its Core studio courses that B.F.A. students receive along with additional upper level studio courses to further hone the student’s artistic skills. It encourages an interdisciplinary approach with many students earning a minor or second major from departments across the college and university. The B.A. provides an opportunity for students to develop highly personal portfolios that can incorporate art and design with work from other disciplines with very marketable results. The B.A. also reflects developments in Fine Art involving more environmentally and socially engaged art practices, technology or performance-based work, as well as artworks emphasizing academic research.

A multilingual brain is more agile and better able to solve problems and conflicts. Language learners demonstrate superior cognitive performance throughout their lives.

Over half of the world’s population is bilingual or multilingual, while only one in five U.S. citizens speaks a language other than English. Knowledge of other languages and cultures gives our graduates a competitive advantage in any career, and is highly valued in international business and professional communities. Our graduates choose a variety of career paths in teaching, entertainment and media, government, travel, financial services or international business. Some students enter careers with international or non-governmental organizations such as the International Red Cross or the World Health Organization, while others go on to advanced degrees in preparation for work in international law, diplomacy and college teaching.

And if you want to spark that excitement in others, studying earth science education is the way to start. Earth science educators are critically important to teach young people to respect and conserve the planet’s resources and to maintain and preserve a healthy, livable environment.

In the earth science education program, you will be prepared for a future as a high school science teacher. The program is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education and emphasizes giving you a strong background in both liberal arts and content. You will complete all your field experiences and student teaching at one of Delaware’s fastest growing school districts during your sophomore, junior, and senior years, culminating with a 15-week student teaching practicum. On completing the program requirements, you will receive the University of Delaware's endorsement for teaching certification.
