The MS in Computer Science program is a rigorous graduate program designed to meet the needs of any student wishing to gain advanced understanding of the principles and practices needed to harness the power of computing to help society and the world.  The program can be a stepping stone on the way to further studies and the pursuit of advanced research, such as can be obtained by pursuing the PhD. Or the program can provide a pathway to professional advancement through greater technical knowledge and intellectual maturity.

This concentration is designed for the music student with an undergraduate degree in piano who wishes to specialize as a collaborative pianist in instrumental repertoire. A student must successfully pass an audition that demonstrates an advanced level of collaborative skill to qualify for admission to the program.

Applicant proposing concentration in Music Performance Collaborative Piano: Instrumental must demonstrate outstanding performance skills. An on-site audition is required; in extreme cases, recorded examples of an applicant’s performance may be accepted in lieu of an in-person audition. Applicant should contact faculty in the appropriate performance area to inquire about specific audition repertoire and procedures.

The study of Philosophy can be challenging because it asks students to critically examine very fundamental questions about what it means to be human - behavior, values, ethics, logic, aesthetics. Some describe it as "thinking in slow motion" because of the way it explores in depth the human experience.

Students choose philosophy because it instills a lifelong love and quest for knowledge, it imparts a disciplined and systematic way of thinking, and it enhances critical and analytical capacities. Most graduates of philosophy describe the great personal reward that comes from exploring the great thinkers of the past in the context of modern issues. But, they also passionately value the career skills that they developed - how to read and comprehend difficult text; how to understand different interpretations of information and assess opposing viewpoints; how to craft a clear and logical position on an issue in writing and orally; and how to make connections between smaller, seemingly disparate details and the big picture.

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry offers a graduate program of studies with a choice of areas of specialization in analytical, organic, inorganic and physical chemistry or in biochemistry. The student is expected to develop breadth of study beyond the boundaries of traditional areas and disciplines. The student is afforded the opportunity of interdisciplinary study in the Surface Studies Laboratory and in the Center for Great Lakes Studies.

This undergraduate degree offers students a concentrated studio art experience to complement a broad exposure to the humanities, fine arts, social sciences, and natural sciences. Bachelor of Arts (Art) students have four course tracks to choose from: Studio Arts, Design Studies, Community Arts, and Digital Fabrication and Design.

The Graduate Concentration in Integrated Health Care Leadership provides deep knowledge in topics that will help students navigate the increasingly complex health care industry environment, such as leadership and team building, health care accounting, law, and ethics, health care administration and delivery systems, managed care and integrated health networks, and strategic management in health care organizations.

Faculty are connected to leading-edge business knowledge using real-world business challenges. There is an emphasis on critical and analytical thinking, collaboration with fellow students, and networking with successful executives and professional inside and outside the classroom.

This undergraduate degree prepares students to teach art both in schools and in the community. Once students are admitted to the Art & Design program, they can apply to the Art Education program through ART ED 227 (see Advance to Major). In addition to satisfying the core curriculum, art education students also must take required art history and critical thinking courses, and three education courses. They are required to take studio courses from both 2D and 3D disciplines, and to focus their choices of studio electives to develop an emphasis in an area. In addition to top-notch studio preparation in a wide range of media, our students focus on urban issues and art education for social justice. Theory is integrated into practical early field and student teaching experiences. Throughout the program, assessment is aligned with the requirements for licensure under “PI-34,” the state law governing certification in Wisconsin.
