The objectives of the Public Health degree center around programmatic learning goals and core skills that not only provide an in-depth science education but aid students in developing skills necessary for future careers. These include:

• Students will be able to differentiate and define of structures and objectives of public health, including the history and philosophy of public health, key achievements, and explain the organization of the U.S. public health system and across the glo
• Students will demonstrate comprehension of a foundational science education including epidemiology, health and disease, social and behavioral sciences, biological and life sciences, anatomy and physiology, chemistry, statistics, and scientific writing.
•  Students will demonstrate comprehension of community health, humanities, ethics, leadership, and effective health communication.
• Students will apply leadership, communication skills, and community and public health knowledge through experiential learning activities including internships, service-learning projects, capstone senior seminars, research papers, honors theses, or other scholarly, cumulative, and integrative applied experiences to support academic and career goals.
• Students will design an academic plan for graduation and identify, write, and describe a plan for professional success in their career path.
• Students will demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills and relate public health information to diverse audiences.
• Students will apply critical thinking through independent learning and collaborations with colleagues, peers, and community members and identify, evaluate, and synthesize public health information.

Our undergraduate program offers a rigorous, challenging, and intellectually stimulating experience. You will simultaneously explore a subject you love while developing the kinds of universal skills employers seek—written and spoken communication, analytical and problem solving skills, and research experience. This prepares you for a wide variety of careers. Our graduates have gone on to start their own businesses, work in small and large corporations, pursue advanced professional training in the law, receive a commission as an officer in the United States armed forces, and serve the public in local, state, and federal agencies.

The aerospace medicine Master of Science degree program is conducted by the Boonshoft School of Medicine’s Department of Community Health, Division of Aerospace Medicine. The program is the preventive medicine specialty that  promotes the health and functional well-being of pilots, astronauts and other flight crew members as well as all other people traveling in air or space. Our physician trainees endeavor to discover, prevent and manage various adverse  physiological responses of the normal healthy individual to the hostile aerospace environment, and learn to manage common medical problems associated with aerospace flights. Operationally related training includes life-support systems, aircraft and spacecraft accident investigation and aerospace human factors. Aerospace medical certification of pilots, astronauts and other flight crew members is also an important part of this training.

Program Learning Outcomes
The learning outcomes are centered on graduate pass rate for the American Board of Preventive Medicine - Aerospace Medicine certification exam.

The thesis option is for students who need or desire the full range of professional experience, including intensive research and writing. This option assures training in research techniques and in the preparation of scholarly papers. It culminates in the preparation and defense of a thesis based on original research. The student's program of study is an initiation into methods of focused study and research in a selected area of physiology or neuroscience.

The course option allows the student to plan a program of study that, along with the degree requirements, satisfies his or her educational needs and career objectives. This might be to extend knowledge for a current position, or as preparation for one of many health professions. The student's program of study typically culminates with two scientific writing courses broadly in the areas of Physiology and/or Neuroscience.

Managers focus on achieving the goals of the business or organization while being accountable for performance results.

High-performing managers are good at building working relationships with others. They help co-workers and employees develop skills, foster teamwork, and create a work environment both satisfying for employees while pursuing the business or organization’s goals. Many of our management majors also double major in human resource management or complete the certificate in human resources.

Program Outcomes
When you complete the program, you will graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Business with a major in management. The first two years of the program ground students in the essential, concrete skills needed as business students while the final two years focus on management skills.

Study from a social scientific perspective how humans create, transmit, receive, and respond to messages. The communication studies program will help you better understand intrapersonal and interpersonal communication. The mass communication program shapens your skills in mediated processes and effects, social media, digital media, and other multimedia processes. Your intellectual, organizational, and social abilities will increase through our new curriculum. These abilities can be applied to a variety of contexts, including interpersonal, organizational, and mediated settings. Your courses will underscore real-world experiences with theoretical frameworks. Your ability to critically think about the world around you cannot be overemphasized. We strive to help you participate in a democratic society as an informed and civically engaged citizen and demonstrate global and multicultural competence.

Our graduate Electrical Engineering program is highly respected within the industry, and we have placed hundreds of graduates with major international corporations and research institutions. Students have the opportunity to conduct research in many areas, including robotics, VLSI circuit design, power electronics, microwave theory, control theory, sensor data fusion, and digital signal and image processing.

The mathematics component of the Bachelor of Arts program surveys the classical areas of mathematics—analysis, algebra, and geometry—and their history. Courses in statistics and in computer science provide a taste of two relatively young branches of the mathematical sciences. In addition, a broad choice of electives allows you to either pursue greater depth in one of these areas, or to sample a broader range of courses in mathematics, statistics, and computing.

The Bachelor of Arts program features breadth and flexibility. For instance, there is a Related Course Requirement specifically designed to accommodate subject matter outside the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, and even outside both the College of Science and Mathematics and the College of Engineering and Computer Science. The Bachelor of Science degree from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology focuses on preparing students for careers in fields including, but not limited to, medicine and health, drug manufacturing and design, agriculture, forensic science (crime lab science), academic/industrial research and development, and scientific writing.

The teaching and research programs of the department are conducted in modern, well-equipped classrooms and laboratories. Our curriculum fosters the development of active learning, teamwork, critical thinking, scientific reasoning and communication skills, as well as, relevant content knowledge in both biochemistry and molecular biology. Within the curriculum there are many opportunities for students to be associated with cutting-edge research through independent studies and undergraduate research projects.
