Factors Influencing your Application for GMAT or GRE Waiver Universities

Choosing to opt out of taking the GMAT or GRE may allow you to focus on other aspects that may help you stand out:

  • A university's graduate admissions committee will examine your GPA (Grade Point Average) to determine your academic history. Most universities require a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale in undergraduate courses. Some programs, such as MBA and clinical psychology, value work experience in addition to academic achievements.
  • Your statement of purpose (SOP) will be critical in your application, whether for a 6-month internship or simply a 6-month internship. As you write your statement of purpose, the university will provide you with specific questions and instructions you need to address. This will enable the university to assess your writing and grammar skills and academic potential.
  • After joining the program, you will also need to give a background of your academic and professional goals. Most universities require letters of recommendation from faculty and previous employers. Make sure that the people you ask for letters of recommendation are willing to do so and have an understanding of your academic and professional achievements.
  • When you ask someone to write a letter of recommendation for you, provide them with enough information so that they can begin working on it right away. You should include awards, recognitions, and community involvement on your updated resume when applying to graduate schools that require prior experience.

How to Avail of GMAT/GRE Wavier in 2024?

When it comes to submitting test scores to GMAT,  GRE waived university in USA   test-takers often find themselves in a dilemma. However, if you encounter unforeseen circumstances during the test, haven't prepared well, or believe that your scores don't reflect your abilities, it's better to opt-out.

  • To initiate a waiver, you must provide alternative documents such as your GPA, CV, SOP, LOR, etc. Additionally, universities may conduct interviews as part of their admissions process.
  • You can also request a waiver by writing a letter to the university, ensuring that you follow the required formatting, state your purpose clearly, provide specific examples, highlight your work experience and skills, and demonstrate your career progression and leadership traits in your essays.
  • Finally, include your career growth in your application essay, highlight your strong leadership qualities, and select a course that aligns with your personal and professional needs.

Why consider taking the GMAT/GRE for the 2024 intake?

"Should I still take these exams when GMAT/GRE is waived off in fall 2024?" That is the query. Here is the response:

  • Typically, universities offer scholarships based on GMAT or GRE scores to students who apply for GMAT/GRE waiver programs. You may increase your chances of receiving a scholarship if you take the GMAT or GRE and submit your scores to graduate schools that offer GMAT/GRE waivers.
  • If your GPA is not strong enough, you can use your test scores to demonstrate your quantitative skills and go beyond your transcript.
  • You can also demonstrate your grasp of key concepts if you do not have sufficient professional experience for the course.
  • If you are unsure that your essays are not good and your GMAT or GRE scores might help enhance your application, you should take the test.

Which test should you take, the GRE or the GMAT?

Here is a quick summary of the two tests so that you can make a more informed choice about whether to take the GRE or the GMAT in the future if you want to pursue graduate studies abroad.

The GRE and GMAT are differentiating factors to consider when choosing between them. The GRE is accepted at more than 1,200 universities worldwide, whereas the GMAT is taken at every institution.

The exam structure includes two 30-minute essays, two 30-minute quantitative reasoning sections (if taking the computer-based GRE), two 35-minute quantitative reasoning sections (if taking the computer-based GRE), and one 30- or 35-minute experimental section. A unique quantitative section includes quantitative comparisons, data sufficiency, and special verbal sections. The GRE features a separate oral area that provides for sentence equivalence & text completion, sentence correction & critical reasoning, and a unique verbal section.

The GRE comprises an analytical writing section that includes integrated reasoning, quantitative reasoning (62 minutes), and verbal reasoning (65 minutes). The test format is computer-based and consists of a multi-stage test (MST). The duration is 3 hours 45 minutes.

The GRE has three sections: verbal reasoning (130-170 points), quantitative reasoning (130-170 points), and analytical writing (independent from other areas). The total score ranges from 200-800, while the analytical writing and integrated reasoning parts are graded independently. The test is USD 205. The cost of the GMAT is USD 250. The test is valid for five years.

When should you not send in your GMAT/GRE scores?

People who take the GMAT/GRE don't know if they should or should not submit their scores when applying  GRE waived university in USA  or the GMAT for 2024. Here is when not to submit your standardized test scores:

It is common to avoid the COVID-19 test to keep yourself safe, given the circumstances. You should focus on your essays, SOPs, and other parts of your application if you have not prepared for the test and the application deadline is approaching fast.

You may forget to take the test and use your essays to showcase your strengths and abilities, or you may avoid taking the test altogether.
